I shot the throat out of a 220 Swift real quick with N550, went to AA2700 and it has been happy days, 50g at 4000 shooting bug holes with Rem cases and 9 1/2 till the barrel was shot out. Then went to the 22/250 AI with AA2700 with the 55's at 4050 fps.

I read that the 26 and 28 Nosler barrel life was 500 to 700 rounds ?? Is this correct. 🙄
We found stainless barrels may last slightly longer, but it really depends on the powder and how much of it you are stuffing into the case and the bearing surface and design of the bullet you are using. I've found that my medium capacity cases, under 60 grains can hold accuracy to 4000 to 4500 rounds, but when you get above 70 grains capacity, accuracy drops off at 3000 to 3500 rounds and above 80 grains capacity 2000 to 2500 rounds. That is because you are pushing more unburned kernals thru the barrel which acts as an abrasive. Some powder are much harder than other and this adds to the damage. Proper cleaning is important too.

This is from my dads rifle. I've loaded for it since the very beginning. It's been shooting 155 Hammer Hunters with 84gr. of N570 for about 200 rounds. When the gun was brand new I checked the jam on the bullet (case on the left). I've been chasing a steep velocity drop lately, so I decided to recheck it by jamming another bullet. .236" of throat erosion in right around 200-250 rounds 😬😬.

WOW...... that's worse than a 6.5-284 or a 7mm mag......
PERFORMANCE COSTS $$$$$$$$$

I use 55gr Sierra SPBT @ 3900 fps. It was my understanding a long time ago that holding down the velocity under 4000fps was a lot easier on the barrel.
