What can you guys tell me about this caliber in terms of long range shooting? I just got one of these rifles. Its a weatherby mark v. I was planning on using 150 vlds. How far could I effectively take deer size game? Comments are well appreciated.

IMO provided you can get the accuracy you want with your VLDs it should be just as good as a 257 Weatherby or 7 Rem Mag fitting inbetween those in recoil, trajectory, energy and wind drift.

The 257 with 115 VLDs is a proven coues wt killer for four of us taking 15 deer to date. Six elk and four mule deer, an antelope and one javelina as well.

IMO the 270 Weatherby is going to be very similar and with a bit more bullet weight very adequate for LR hunting.

I had one years ago, a semi custom. I shot 130 nos bt @ 3500 fps. Shot one coues wt at 525 yds. Worked just fine.
