Has anyone run the Hornady ELD-X, in a 280 AI? I am having one built soon, and thinking about running this bullet.

If you have, what velocities are you getting with these, and what kind of accuracy?

Hmmm, I looked at a box of those today for my 280ai. I'm having trouble with the 168 Berger VLD, and almost thought about trying those.

The box says you'd need a 1:8.5 twist. Mine is a 1:8.

You could probably approximate the load with Nolser ABLR data. They claim 2828 fps with IMR 7828 and a 26" barrel.

I picked up a box to try when I get my build finished. It will have an 8 twist on it.

Midway still has the 162s and 175s in their seconds.

I have one with a 31" barrel and throated for a 3.500" coal. Running the 175 X at 3150 fps with outstanding results below is a pic of a group shot at 1020yds. I had a bit of an issue with a carbon ring but now resolved.

Nice! What velocity could I expect from a 25-26" bbl? I'm figuring at least 2800, maybe a touch more of lucky?

Wow! That is awesome. I'd like to give them a try, but I think with my 24" barrel I could probably only push them to 2700-2750 or so.
