    Thanks. I won the 7 mm rem mag at a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation dinner. I’ve always used my Winchester Mod. 70 chambered in 30.06. Never had a problem with elk nor deer.

    I no longer shoot a 7mm Rem mag but my hunting partner does. He shoots a 160gr Accubond with H1000. Muzzle velocity is a little over 3100 fps. It's a hammer. I've also seen my brother shoot a couple elk with the 180gr accubond in a 300wm. It hits real hard.

    What happened to the elk with your 7mm rem mag and Berger 168 classic hunter rounds? That is exactly what I was planning to use for my Colorado elk hunt this year. I’m using IMR 4831.

    Long story short, I shot a cow 3 times in the vitals over the course of about 10-15 minutes. Bu the time I had walked 300 yards over to her she still wasn't dead and tried to run away. She took 4 shots total.
