I talked about this hunt on another thread. But for those seeing this for the first time I will put some info in about the hunt.

My boy is 5 years old, turning 6 in January. He was shooting my 7mm RUM with 180 bergers. The gun is muzzle breaked, and has little recoil to begin with. But I had the rifle laying in a bull bag with a strap wrapped around the bag and then around the butt of the stock. The bull bag was on a DOA tactical bench and we had a doghouse blind over top of us. I videod the hunt through my vortex spotting scope using my "tinesup" scopecam adapter. And I also have a little handheld canon camcorder that I used. The shot distance was 160 yds. It does not look that far through the spotting scope, but can assure you that was the distance. My son normally shoots a 22-250. But because of the windy weather forecast, and the potential shot distance we had. I decided to go with the RUM.
It was a great day. And a special "Thank you" to Todd for allowing me to bring my boy to his farm.

That's awesome! Thanks for posting it.

I started my daughter shooting when she was 5, people looked at me like I was crazy when I told them that, I don't think so.

Congrats to the young hunter!! Great job and a video he will be proud of and show forever.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Jeff.

ps: I am convinced after seeing the internal damage and the wound channel that the 180 did indeed expand and maybe not all of it exited. I think with the MV of a 7 RUM it worked perfectly by exiting even when placed in a thickest bone area of the buck. Pretty must stoned him and a perfect DRT.

Congrats again.

Jeff

Very cool! The looks on his face tell the whole story, congratulations to you as well, nothing beats being a dad!

The bullet looks like it did fine!

Thanks everyone. Can't believe nobody wants to rib me about the young lad shooting my ultra mag.LOL. I can assure you he never would have used it if I wasn't 100% sure he could handle it. I knew I had the recoil taken care of.
He loves hunting. He is 100% about it 100% of the time. Maybe it gets it from his dad.LOL
My family loves it when he gets to his buck and just kinda gazes around with the grin on his face. Seems like several others enjoyed that part also.
Thanks again. More videos to come. God willing.

He will be maybe the only one who can brag latter that he shot an Ultra Mag when he was only 5... kinda like Daniel Boone killing a bear when he was only 3, LOL
