124 HAMMER - .308Win - TAC

TAC proved to be a good powder because it is very dense, and you can get a good weight in the case without compression. However, after a significant amount of load development with the 130 Barnes TTSX, I found that Benchmark was the "magic bullet" for a light mono in a .308Win case. Benchmark provides good load density, high velocity and surprisingly good accuracy. I have shot MANY sub 2" groups at 400yds with Benchmark and the 130TTSX.

FWIW - 46.5gr Benchmark will get 3,200 fps with the 124H with single digit SDs. I put 4 bullets into 1.42" @ 400yds but a 5th bullet opened the group to 3.40".
I've had great success using AA2460 with the 130TTSX. Super accurate and 3085 velocity from a 18" barrel, 10 twist.

I could not get the accuracy with the 124s that I can get with the 152.

Velocity was not as high either with Shooters World Precision and CFE223. Ran into the same case capacity issues. May have to revisit with a faster powder and get another stash of these. FWIW, I am having the same issue with the 124 HH vs the 110 HH in 6.5mm and 177 HH vs 131 HH in 7mm. Three different rifles telling me they like the heavier/slower pills vs the ultra fast lightweights.

124HH from a 20" barrel
CFE 223 @50gr 3034 FPS with an ES of 16
SWP @47gr 2965 FPS with an ES of 22

Wow! Thank you. What is your bbl twist?
