Not a clue. As I've mentioned here a time or two, I've got a 32 inch bartlein .257 barrel I intend to turn into a 25-300 weatherby.any feeling regarding what length would be ideal?
What is the most overbore cartridge YOU HAVE USED?

If I was building a 257 Wby, I would use a barrel at least 36-in.
I think a simple 7RM needs a 32-in barrel, and the 257Wby is even more overbore.
Another word.
Long barrels need to be big and heavy, no spindly lightweight stuff.
So yes, it will be expensive to do it right.
The lighter the barrel, the more vibration and tuning problems it will have.
The barrel is a cannon, not a drinking straw. When was the last time you saw a lightweight cannon ?

I had a 30-378 Weatherby that was a lot of fun. It easily printed inside of .6" at 100yds with Nosler 180gr BT's. I don't remember the FPS those bullets left the barrel at but it was crazy. Used it as a target and prairie dog rifle and never shot it at a game animal but would have had to use more appropriate bullets at that velocity.
I cooked the barrel in just a few hundred rounds even with cooling it completely between shots.
Sold it to a guy in Colorado that wanted to hunt elk with it and never heard from him again but did warn him that accuracy was starting to erode due to throat erosion.
Other than that rifle I've never been a super magnum kind of guy.

My 257 Weatherby barrel is 28" and I'm getting 3700fps + with 110gr Accubonds. My 6.5-300 barrel is even longer- gets me close to the game…

In 1979 I bought a 270 Weatherby Mag, with the 26 inch #2 barrel. Although It shot so well, and I really loved the rifle and caliber, I was told by many guys at the Range it was an overbore cartridge. I went on to take 2 mule deer , one antelope and one small elk with that rifle. It wears a new Leupold scope now and has shot at the 1000 yard range on two separate occasions. I never viewed this purchase as a mistake, and its my "Other" Favorite Rifle. Looking forward to another mule deer hunt with it.
I had a 257 Wea Vanguard with a 24" tube. I found that the velocity was real good ( 3385 ft/sec--120 gr bullet) but the rifle was a little on the heavy side and the muzzle blast and flash was a little to much. I believe a 26" tube would have been better. JMO

Hmm 220swift, 240,257,6.5-300,30-378wby's, 7STW still shoot them all today.
Practical hunters load up their 308 in the mini van and head to the woods by themselves because there hunting buddies wont let them join them!

This may be the most overbore listed. A bit hotter than my 240 Gibbs.

So that was a wildcat worth repeating I take it? What do you like about it, what kind of performance you getting, what length of barrel? I need information!!!!

Both are dearly expensive!
Indeed some of those cartridges you list have a reputation for things besides high velocity
