Any recent preferred barrel blanks reports?

I should add I'm trying to get groups inside a 1" square at 200 yards as this will be a bench/target gun only so don't want to give the wrong idea. 26" mtu barrel. So far it's close but being stubborn. A LOT more movement on this barrel than I'd have predicted.

October 2023 I received a PBB steel prefit for a terminus Zeus LA. Barrel is chambered in 450 bushmaster. With only 12 rounds down the barrel I had it shooting between .5 and .75" groups with hornady black ammunition. I torqued the barrel on myself and headspace was fine. For the price it shoots great.

The one thing I remembered today when I torqued my barrel onto my action is that the caliber and twist inscription is upside down when the barrel is torqued. Kind of bothers me a little inside 😅

I'm far from a gunsmith, but it seems that with a headspaced barrel it would be easy to tell where it was going to end up.

The rest seems good so far.
I had a question about prefits and barrel engraving. I was told by a gunsmith only a couple action makers who produce prefits keep the lead thread the same so that engraving can be determined correctly.

Heh, interesting! Not a big deal I guess. Every factory barrel comes with engraving in the same place, I just figured it would be relatively "easy" to clock on a shouldered prefit... In that case it could be under the barrel/fore end, if you are unlucky.

It's just an aesthetic thing... Fortunately for me I usually go for function over form 😃

That happened to me and I have seen plenty for sale like that.

I bought a 7mm 8 twist blank and chambered it myself. It's been one of the worst copper fouling barrels I've ever seen. I brought the problem to their attention last week and so far they have been willing to help. Not talking bad on the barrel or company, it could happen to any barrel maker. Time will tell

Did you have them lap the barrel?

I have 3, 2 carbons and 1 steel. None have over 100 rounds yet but all shoot 3/4 Moa so far or better. I haven't done load dev on any yet just plugged a book load and went .02 off the lands to see how they would do. So far so good, all are slow but we will see after 100 rounds.
