I have problems telling how far away sounds are with them on high, I had an elk bugling this fall that sounded like he was 50 yards, turns out he was more like 500. I also heard an elk break a stick at 317 (ranged elk) but I don't know how loud that stick would have been without them in. I did notice that the sound of my hunters walking or even noisy clothes on me or them sounds so loud on high I question whether I could hear distant sounds over it. I don't know if it actually covers them up though, I didn't have any hunters hear stuff that I missed while wearing them, and I had hunters during bow season hearing elk bugle that I couldn't (didn't have them then). But on the other hand a lot of paid hunters don't tend to notice sounds that me or you are keyed into because we know that /rustle/snap/ is an elk walking.
