Looking for a New Gun

I'd check out some of the Sako line also, they make some very accurate rifles and some nice handling lightweight ones. Not sure that they have them chambered in 28 Nosler, however.

There are no out of the box 1000 yd hunting rifles.

there are good, better, best rifles...

i like something from GAP in the best range.

There are a ton of options out there in you price range. If you want to spend the money build custom and have a little fun. If you do not reload you will not get everything the 28 nosler is capable of.

Thanks for the input. Starting to steer clear from the 28 nosler.

You beat me to it. Sako. Hands down the best factory rifles I have ever owned (5) with one in layaway lol. I also have a GAP and love it but for ~1/3 the price Sako IMO can't be beat

I don't see anything wrong with a Browning chambed in 28 Nosler,,, why would it not perform out of the box on the range,,, if it shows good results at the range,,, then why not shoot it out further...

It sounds like Andrew has a few rifles that he likes,,, so why not choose one of those rifles he's looking at...

We have 2 shooters at our range that get fairly good groups with their Brownings,,, one of the fellows changed the trigger spring and it shoots awesome...

He took a record book Hog last year with it and a non-trophy the next day...

380 + pound Hog to fill his freezer,,, Ye Ha to good times...

Out of the box,,, sighted it in,,, changed the trigger spring,,, him and his wife are off to the races...

$1600 Cnd funds for the Hells Canyon,,, $1200 for the glass,,, its one sweet looking package that shoots good...

I hope he joins me this year at the 1450 yard range to pound some iron this spring,,, He's one of smoooooth shooter folks...

Gunwerks has what you seek if you have both the skill and money. Ready to go and proofed to 1000 with their ammo. They start @$10k. Otherwise, no.

If you have a 300, and you are happy with it, makes sense to go above or below. My idea of a perfect 3 gun set up is a large caliber 338-375 lapua/cheytac heavy rifle, a 300 mag of choice, and a 6.5 Sherman/prc lightweight rifle.

So my advise is to look at Christensen arms in a 6.5 prc or better yet have a 6.5 Sherman built. I also like the havoc rifles.

It is not a bad idea to have a 6.5 creedmore you can shoot the barrel out of either. I have a bergara in one that shoots lights out. My son has one in a tikka that also shoots in the .4s.

3k can get you into a custom rifle which will likely shoot much better than Browning or Nosler would. You are also in the cost area of a Cooper rifle with half MOA guarantees if you really want to stay with an off the shelf rifle. Just my two cents there.

I don't think they guarantee 1/2 MOA with factory loads. Don't know offhand that anyone does. There are several that offer 1/2MOA, and also that offer 1moa with factory loads. You have to read the fine print. Fierce offers 1/2" with the load they chose. sometimes it is a factory load, sometimes not. Like Cooper they list the test load on the target. Coopers are not tested at 100yds. Confusing? Nosler custom offers 1" with factory loads. Those rifles shoot very well with handloads. They are in the 3k range. Seekins makes very accurate rifles that are very cost effective. The trick here is to either pay for custom loads, learn to load, or pick a cartridge known to have very accurate factory loads available for.

Would it be possible to narrow down the scope a little on, "take any game in North America", is there anything specific that you intend to hunt?

I know that Masterpiece Arms guarantees their MPA 6.5 CM to shoot 3/8 MOA so
at 100 yards? I can copy and paste if you like?
If you hunt some you can buy a brand new one for less than 3K! Look at the parts list.
I have one in 338LM and I'm getting another in 6.5 X 47L. I think they are GREAT!

I'd look at a Cooper in that price range. 28 Nosler is a fine round. Very good round for a hunter vs a target shooter. A hunter usually wont have to worry about shooting a barrel out of a big game rifle and won't shoot the number of rounds which would run the cost up with a 28 Nos.

Nothing wrong with the 28 Nosler, very similar to the 7mm STW. Or as a friend says " a 7mm Mag on steroids".
The Browning X-Bolt pro is a very good rifle, as is the hells canyon speed.
As others have said though, handloading will maximize the potential of the 28... but that's true for most cartridges.
