I've had my 280AI for a few years now and have always shot Nosler factory 140gr Accubond with great performance and accuracy. Now that I've aquirred enough brass to reload I've been looking at the scirocco in 150gr. Was interested in knowing if anyone has gone this route and your input, I've always been told that the 280AI's built around a 140gr pill so I'd like some feedback from those of you that have gone heavier. Thanks

They will do very well with 160 to 180 class bullets if they have a 1 in 9 twist.

The most bullet around hear for the 280 AI is the 160 grain Accubond. and the long range bullets are the 180 grain Berger VLD hunting bullet.

800+ yard shots on deer are where this bullets shine.

Loaded to max the 280 AI gives the 7 rem mag a run for its money with these bullets.

Can the 280 AI push the 180 Berger fast enough to out perform the 168 Berger?

A good compromise of speed vs energy would be the Berger 168 VLD. I shoot them for deer hunting with my 7mmRemMag. They are the perfect sub-500 yard bullet for the .280 AI and 7mm RemMag.

i use berger 168 and i am pleased

The Sirroco's are a great all around bullet from deer to elk plus a few shots now and then for target work. VV165 and H3831 are both super accurate and capable of around 3K/sec. Hard to find a hunting bullet with a better BC.

I've loaded for a regular 280, with 140 barnes tsx. going to try their 145 and 168 lrx next. that's another option for you.

not yet , but have tried them in 30cal and 338cal. sort of like the berger vld, in regards to seating depth. but once you find the right seating depth, there very accurate. terminal performance is exceptional as always. don't have to worry about, that its a barnes.

My Buddy uses the 145 LRX in his 280 AI ,and IMR 4831 he loves his load works really well .5-.75 at 100 yards depending on the day . The load may do better in a gun that weighs more than 6LBS scoped too .

powder charge? seating depth? Running them out to the lands, Book OAL??? looking for a place to start since I can get them or the LRAB to group like the NBT did... My Dakota shot a .272 Trying to beat that with a bonded bullet.
