Who still shoots the old 06

The lever is the only one I'd consider selling, it's an 1895 Repro but i rarely shoot unsuppressed so it isn't getting used and I could use the funds to get something I'd shoot more. Plus my brother has a nicer one I could borrow if I wanted to hunt with it.

I considered a single shot for a while but at this point I'm happy with my Sharps but I may eventually get a C Sharps in 30-40 or 30-30 if I can get them to put muzzle threads on it.
No!...Selling lever guns is a bad idea, here are two I sold about 5 years ago that I still have nightmares over. 😵‍💫 Cheers

Yes. A lot of people still use the "old" 30-06 with many here in the West. I still own and use 2, and with good equipment, loads, etc, it will still reach out and take elk and much more at long ranges. Especially, when a longer throat is used with bullets seated out for a few more grains of powder and increased vels. As for closer shots in woods or whatever, well, its still a 30-06.

Still use? The 06 came into my life late in the form of a Tikke altralite Cabelas addition. Fussy little kickin $!+#. Feed it 168 amaxes in front of a full load of imr 4831 it does very well for itself. It aint knocked me out since the suppressor was added😉

I hunted ducks with a 10 gauge BPS for years. But the kickingest gun I ever shot was a tie between a New England Arms single barrel 12 with 3". 2 1/4 oz Turkey loads and a Ruger 77 ultralight 30-06. That single barrel would draw blood from you every time you pulled the trigger

If my brother didn't have a nicer version of the same rifle in 30-06 and .405 I could use whenever I wanted I'd keep it but it's just sitting there and would be better off with someone who could appreciate it more.

LOL the ol man got me with his h&r single shot with full house turkey loads, he even cheated and took the weight out of the stock😨. The 06 knocking me out is kinda funny from a guy thats shot a T Rex,20mm and numerous 50bmgs.
The Tikka s very light and I also had a short eye relief scope on it. In field conditions prone it would attack me with a vengeance , only took twice before i swapped the scope out and threaded it for a suppressor.

That is my only real gripe with a Tikka. Most models are lightweight and the trigger angle seems different to me. They are very well made though.
