The dumbest thing you have ever heard

Was in the local gun store not too long ago just before the season started and some transplant came in with a rifle he bought the year before and asked if they could rebore sight it for him. The guy at the counter obliged him and told him that he didn't really have to make but a couple clicks because it was already darn close, to which the man replied "well I hope that does it because last season didn't go so well cuz I couldn't hit anything I shot at last year". I couldn't help myself and asked the man at what distance he was zeroing the rifle, he looked at me with a blank stare and asked what I meant. I explained that just bore sighting is only meant to get you on paper 25-50 yards and you have to fine tune from there, to which he replied "well nobody here told me that when I bought the rifle".🤦‍♂️

I'll have to say the long discussion on this forum about whether it is possible to consistently hit a softball at 1000 yards using a hunting rifle with the first shot is pretty high on my list. I was amazed by how many think it is difficult or challenging but doable.

Anyone who either 1)Understands absolutely anything about ballistics OR 2)has ever shot a rifle at a longer distance than 200 yards should be able to understand this is utter and complete ********.

How dare you agree with me!

Both places I spend my time in have rather large mil or cg bases, and sadly the service is getting recruits attracted to a general miley/Loyd Austin military. Suffice to say it's made for some of the most mind numbing "sniper" related wives tales. It's getting as bad or worse than the old "eskimo" lady who shot a polar near in the mouth with a 22 story. Makes everyone think they are capable of being the next hathcock or mawhinney, with their newly acquired psa ar and high grade chineseum scope.

The night before Muzzleloader Opener several years ago, stopped into the LGS right before closing time for something last minute.
There was a guy in there buying a gun for hunting the next morning. The clerk was trying to get him set up, telling him what he'll need.
When he mentioned needing primers, the fella responds "What's a primer?"
THESE PEOPLE ALSO VOTE....

Witnessed a camo covered Ranger wannabe that was shooting a 1022 and cursing like crazy when he examined his fired brass. When i asked what the problem was he handed me fired case and said, see, firing pin is busted, keeps hitting on the edge of brass. I suggested he take his broken weapon to the GS inside the shop and ask him to fix it. GS came busting out the door wanting to know who sent that idiot in to see him….Upon which he spun around looked at that cam covered wannabe, snatched his 1022 from him and told him to leave his range, that he's too stupid to have a gun. Not sure how long everyone there laughed. This is the short version too. Took a while to type this up as i remembered this event, laughing my *** off as memories flooded back.

I've posted this before but ........

A NC whitetail "guide" told me that he prefers a 30cal cartridge for hunting deer because the bullet burns down in diameter, due to air friction, before it gets to the deer. He said that a .308 bullet would be less than 7mm before impact.

I thought the guy was joking but he actually believed what he was telling us. I can't believe that he was much of a shooter. LOL
