These are really great test results from an M1A. Essentially equivalent to a bolt gun but with an 22" barrel? Impressive! You clearly have indicated that LVR and the 308BD2 150 gr bullet can be pushed to generate 3000 ft-lbs of energy from the M1A at safe pressures. Should take the wind out of the sails of the skeptics. Congratulations

More impressive results showing that LVR has some temp stability. Excellent! So far LVR has yielded the best velocity of any of the powders I have tested in the 308Win. That includes Varget, SB-Match.

Glad you did this test. I did the same test on my 20" 308 Win with a new 125 BD2 bullet we will be releasing. At 53 gr of LVR, I got an average of 3243 with a high of 3280 fps, using Lapua Palma brass. The G7BC measured 0.217. No pressure signs noted and clearly no significant velocity difference. If you wrote down the atmospheric conditions during your test we could calculate the BC from the images of your Lab Radar then calculate the difference in bullet energy at 700 yds. They advertise a G7BC of 0.169 I believe.

The M14 platform is my favorite, this is my go to rifle as it sits (had walnut stock in its previous life) when I had access to a section near Laredo. I've taken a few TX WT with this one and a dozen or so 4 legged Coyotes. Why a gasser, 2 legged Coyotes also pass through the property.
I put this rifle together with all the NM preparations you would see from rifles built for Camp Perry. I spun the barrel from an Obermeyer blank. It is a solid minute and a half to two minute gun, that is shooting 20 rounds of M852s or a good lot of M118 LRS. Better group with 168 Hybrids. More than plenty good for a short range critter getter.
If I could get the 150 BD2 to shoot in that precision range, I'll forgo the 168 Hybrid. @nralifer tell us about your secret process to get precision loads on the 150 BD2, I'll handle accuracy.

When you went from 47-49.5 gr, did you use the same aim point for each shot, and were the two closest impacts from consecutive shots?
@nralifer Yes, all the same POA. I missed the 2nd part, so here. Top to bottom taken through the spotter. 47 grains first. The shot way out was the shot was boresighting shot from another rifle. 49.5 went back right with the other. 49, and 48.5 are out of the black. The 49.0 barely shows at about 11 on the white.
I didn't originally planned on showing these, as it is just a short ladder per se. I planned to do load work at 500 on eTarget

I was thinking the samething. Unfortunetely I sold my last M1A
. But I still have an FAL and that might become the truck gun.
Can't go wrong with a 14, no drama like what you read associated with the large frame ARs. At one time I built a dozen of each. Been selling them off, down to 4 each now. If I were to keep only one it would be this particular one. Have enough GI spare parts if I were to need any.
There is some aura in a rugged battle rifle.
If you were anywhere serious about a 14 for a truck gun, start looking around for Navy SSR scope mount. Some pictures on this article.

Over the years I tried every mount option out there, none compared with the SSR mount. Here is a close up of mine. I have since added a blank firing device shield to mitigate the blowback when shooting with a can. Modified the gas system as well.
