Weatherby Fans & why?

I grew up in the shadows of shooters like; Elmer Keith, Jack O'Connor, and Roy Wearthby, Roy's rifles were the gold standard when I was a young man and hunter, Roy's cartridge in those days was power in a small package, the beautiful wood, and wet-blue bluing was something to behold. So in the last 60 years, many have come my way and many have gone, but... I've always managed to have a few in the safe when I picked a rifle for a special hunt.
When I look at Wearthby rifles it's nosologic for me, the same way as when I look at a Win 1894 or a nice Savage model 99... rifles and handguns are about memories and I have many with Weatherby. Just my 0.2 Cheer!

I hear 👂 ya! I have stainless/synthetics but I had to pick up last fall a late 70's version Remington BDL LH in 7RM because of the wood&blue plus the fit&finish they have on those older ones 😀

In my Opinion, a 3 shot group from a cold barrel is a fair assessment of what that Hunting Rifle can be expected to produce. Weatherby used to provide a target with each rifle back in the 70's showing what that rifle actually fired, before leaving the factory. I am happy with any hunting rifle that will allow the shooter to place three shots in to about 1 inch, at 100 yards. I would consider that respectable hunting accuracy, even by todays HIGHER standards, of rifles shooting 1/2 MOA right out of the box. Which to me is both amazing and wonderful. So if the question asked still stands, and we haven't gone down a rabbit hole yet, YES , I like Weatherby Rifles. I like the way they look, the way they shoot and the way they kill things. Too my many friends who tell me their Remington 700 ADL is just as accurate, and I'm only paying for beautiful wood or Hi Gloss bluing, which they consider STUPID. I say back to them,. "That is part of what I paid for , but that is not all the rifle really offers." part of which is Pride of Ownership.

Lol just like some owners of fords, when they know they should own a Chevy & be proud 😀😂

I don't own any comp rifles only hunting. Am I the only hunter hear that truly want's to know what the system (rifle, handloads, me) is capable of?

The point I was making is most everyone I've ever met that claims they have a .5 (or better) all day long rifle in reality has a rifle that will shoot a group that size a 1/3 of the time. The other 2/3 of the time they shoot groups twice that size or more, but because it shoot's .5 semi consistently they say they have a .5 all day rifle.

You don't need to shoot 20 time's in one sitting. You could take one shot over 20 day's, what would that group look like? Over different day's with different conditions all with a cold bore, cold shooter wouldn't this represent shooting at game better then someone's wallet 3 shot group?
Not true. I have 1/2" rifles that shoot 1/2" every time I take them out.

..there all big medicine in there respective calibers...the only two guns I really never enjoyed off the bench were the .300 & .340, for what ever reason both were brutal after 3 shots..I would not want to be on the receiving end at those velocities..lol

Totally agree.
I only carry max 5 rounds when hunting. O would be stupefied if I had to shoot 20 times!
Once I found the "MAGIC" velocity that each barrel loved, the groups shrund like a heterosexuale butthole exposed to a penis. hahaha

Yep, that's why all the benchrest shooters out there are jumping there bullet .250" 😉
Yep, so let's hear how BR size groups are often being produced in non BR rifles!
No one in BR jumps bullets, they jam.
BTW, it's "their bullet", not "their bullet".
You can believe what you like, I did this caper as a job and KNOW what I am talking about. Do you see me making blanket statements like you?

Cheers.

You're not changing my mind. Too many people doing br have more experience with this than you. Why arnt they jumping "their" bullets??

If you are capable or learning and not just stirring the pot, which is no longer funny, I would direct you to some articles and research by BR champions. Instead I will welcome you to my reserved list. enjoy!
