Seekins Element

Never saw a 60gr rule, but anyway I don't use MRP. I have tried them in year gone by. I have found over the years the Fed 210 work quite well. I do have a stock of different primes across the board at the same time. In working up a load I try different to see if that any gain in a different primer. I loading in the 75gr areas. with my belted mags. I do feel that over 80+ grs the MRP probable should come into play.
There is a lot of back and forth on primers, anyway.
Lol… yeah I don't know either. I was told that (rule) years ago and have just followed it and it has worked out for me, but I do know the the LRP work fine in a pinch…

Which powders are Bette to run in a 22" barrel if shooting 205s for 300PRC?

My understanding is that there's too much powder and it won't burn off before bullet exits?

I used to think same way that a powder in a shorter barrel wouldn't burn all of it. I now after more experience and reading believe that all the powder is burned regardless of the barrel lengths. The powder is ignited by the primer then builds pressure in the caber/brass, powder needs pressure to completely burn I beleive. So my belief that the reason for more velocity with a longer barrel comes from the bullet being pushed by the pressure longer in the longer barrel. Now reason being for my more belief in the powder needs pressure to completely burn it is I seen a post about a loaded round that went off in someone's center console in there pickup. The bullet was gone, the case was ruptured, primer had no indent on it, and there were kernels of powder laying in the bottom of the console. Without the round being chambered when it fired it didn't build enough pressure like it would in a chamber to burn all the powder. I don't know if I'm right or wrong but it makes some sense to me. I really don't know what made that round fire in his center console, maybe heat?

I just bought one a couple weeks ago in 300prc. With the nx8 4-32f2 and seekins rings it weighs just a hair over 8lbs. I did seekins medium rings and the magnification ring barely clears. I haven't shot it yet. Hopefully in the next couple weeks I'll get out. I plan to shoot 205 bergers and 212eldx with h1000. I might try some retumbo if I can't find a load that I'm happy with but I save that mainly for my 28. The gun is very nice for a shelf gun and feeds amazingly. If it shoots good it will be a winner for sure. I got the trigger tech trigger to 2lbs safely.

I look forward to hearing how it shoots for you. I am looking at the exact same setup. Same scope and add just adding a bipod to the front.

I did add a bipod as well. I bought the seekins rail so I could swap between my different bipods. It mounted up good and works great. I'm currently using an evolution bipod. I like it for hunting because I can quickly swap between short legs for prone or long legs for sitting/kneeling. When I get out and shoot I'll give ya an update on it. I have a couple boxes of Hornady eldx and eldm factory ammo then everything else will be adg brass. With bipod and sling It's around 9.5lbs.

If you chrono them let me know speeds and send groups! Best of luck!
