What’s your longest kill shot of 2022?

30 yards? Maybe less. Muzzleloader 54 cal, round ball, open sights…

Shortest kill gets at least high 5 or honorable mention right? 😀

I know right. My buddies black bear was affectionately nick named the bore obstruction black bear... it was that close. All that effort to launch .7+ bc bullets with massive effort finding the perfect load, in a rifle that's miserable to pack with a super long tube to wring out every last fps.... to harvest a critter closer than a defensive pistol target.

Man o man we were prepared....
We need a medium to short range hunting Forum 🤣🤣

Longest - Opening day at the crack of dawn in the rain - just under 80yd in thick woods - threaded a needle on what I thought was a whitetail doe and dropped it in its tracks. Turned out to be a button buck. 6.5 CM, 129gr Hornady Am. Whitetail
Best - 45 yd on a groundhog on the run with Wrangler Revolver, .22LR Federal 40gr range ammo. I put a second round in him from 5 ft for good measure but he was already dead.

This is long range hunting so let's not hear about ethics and all that jazz. Like the title asks, what's your longest kill shot this year, and what rifle Rifle did you use?
I'll start. My first bull elk public land Colorado 864 yards with a 300wsm I built myself. Badlands precision 195 gr bd2
My longest kill shot so far this season was on a deer at 381 yards which is no big feet for me but it was a target of opportunity. We were Coyote hunting and had zero responses and the deer stood there the whole time and watched so I decided to take the deer instead . The rifle used was my A.R. 15 that I modified into 6 arc. I was shooting hornady black ammo with a 105 grain bullet.

How'd that 6ARC do on deer at that range?I am in the middle of helping my oldest kid put a 6 ARC together for a deer rifle for her. I looked at the ballistics before we picked a cartridge but I wasn't so sure about it's use in deer past about 300 yards.

I'm pretty thrilled with this caliber and this cartridge. This is the smallest that I currently load for, although the ammo used was factory ammunition, it performed very well.! Complete pass-thru no Bullet recovered DRT.
