That is faster than my 300 WM and H1000. Granted 24" barrel and reduced case capacity to feed from the mag, but still...
I may be regretting gifting my 30-06 to my SIL
I always start with boat tail junction above the shoulder junction. Currently ammo will not fit in the old dated flush detachable mag. Will shoot single till I replace the bottom metal system with a BDL and Wyatt box. Not a fan of a DBM sticking out.

Whoa, that is screaming fast with the 181 Hammer. I'm excited about my 162gr Absolute Hammer load going 3024 fps, but now I'm totally envious of you.

The 30-06 is one of Craig Boddington's favorites. It was my first big game rifle. A stock blind mag Savage 110 I purchased from Sports Authority for $350 in 1995. That rifle was always so accurate. It loved anything you fed it. Cheap or expensive ammo, it didn't matter. I gave it a face lift a few years ago by installing a Timney trigger, a Bell & Carlson stock and a Swarovski scope. It shot even better with all the improvements, and it was hard to believe I could improve on its performance by hand loading, but I did. It's a true 0.25-.50 moa all day long.
I got away from the great '06 for some time while I expanded my cartridge horizons, but I'm glad I rediscovered it once I started hand loading. Honestly, if I had to keep ONLY 2 rifles, it would be my 30-06 and 7 STW. Both are extremely versatile and nothing you couldn't harvest in North America with either one.

Shot mine Saturday 1903-a4 clone I built vintage sniper 2 man team we both ended up shooting my gun 168mk imr 4064 I keep checking my emails for the score it's either 1st or second at 200 with 2.5 weaver the first shot went through the x ring
I only have a partial box of 215's left. That said, I have about 400 or so of the 200-20X Bergers. If I'm not mistaken, the nose profile mimics the 215 exactly. My thoughts on that are if the 215 works well on game, then there ought to be similar results with the 200-20X. The 15 gr lighter weight isn't an insignificant amount, and the 200 lends itself well to an '06 capacity. The 2850-ish I'm getting with the 205 currently is no slouch. The 208 may just be the ticket as far as weight/BC goes… I love seeing guy's freak over my '06 and the performance it has.
The previous week a friend from Slidell came over to have work done. We drilled and tapped the receiver for his 1903-a4orgery. Used a NOS 1940s barrel still plugged and wrapped in cosmoline.
Zeroed the 2.5X scope at 100 on the red target, then moved to to 200, put the elevation on and punched a couple of holes in the NRA SR target.
Had to conserve on the ammo, as I only had leftover partial box of the CMP sourced Hornady ammo with 168 Amax. Buddy will try to duplicate the ammo precision.
Impressed how well the 03 shoots.

I had a Ruger MkI I bought right after I bought a Ruger MkI 7mm Rem mag. I shot the 30.06 very little and never hunted with it. I always regretted selling it. I had my grandfather's 1903 Springfield for many years. Hadn't shot it in 40 years. I gave it to a friend for a birthday present 2 years ago. He has a thing for old bolt action military rifles. When I saw some 1903's here for 1k to 2k afterwards I thought that may have been a dumb move. But I didn't care. Made him happy. I have no 30.06 anymore but I reload for his.
My first real deer rifle was a Kmart blue light special savage 110 circa 1980's. About minute of deer lol but it was poison with 150 grain ballistic tips. I keep saying I need to rebarrel it and put a decent stock and trigger in it. I just may have too.
The super fast loads for heavy bullets is cool... But it does seem it requires a 26-28" barrel. You can get more velocity out of any cartridge with more barrel length.
This really does have me interested in what my 30-284ai might do in a 28" barrel. I'm very comfortably getting 2800fps from a 185jugg and 55.5gr h4350 out of a 24" barrel. There's room to spare in the case and at least 1.5gr off max. I know it ain't the '06... But was inspired by the '06 and the medium length action that I like to use.
I'm really interested in what the '06 can do in the more commonly available 22-24" barrel. What velocities are people seeing with 200-215gr bullets out of those barrel lengths and what powder is getting them there?
