Agreed about the practicality regarding brass one already has! That'd help make up my mind for sure.

I run a 338 rum with 225 grain accubonds.....very fast and very accurate. It is a stock Remington bdl with laminate stock. She consumes lots of powder.....I can usually shoot about 10 rounds off the bench before I had enough. If I were to shoot it lots, I would get a brake installed. Definitely a thumper!

I have a 338 Edge and I am completely happy with the cartridge performance. My only regret is not having the gun built with an enlarged magazine. I load 285 Barnes LRX and the most accurate seating depth will not fit in the magazine. Those bullets shoot into less than .325 at a hundred. I know that is awful close for this gun but I don't have any longer range to shoot for distance. I also have a 300 RUM and had a ton of brass for that cartridge. I had some Nosler 300 RUM brass that I converted to 338 Edge. It was easy and I love shooting this gun. With this bullet combination all the elk and deer I have shot with it have all been one shot and DRT.
I believe this would be quite sufficient to hunt the blue bulls. It is on my bucket list to go to Texas and kill one for the freezer.

I don't have any experience with the 338 RUM or 33 Nosler but I use a 300PRC with Hornady ELD-X 220 Grain for large Black Bear (300lbs to 700lbs.) in North Carolina and have no problems.
I've been wanting to say that. But I figured I'd get flamed by some Nosler fans.

Double Tap ammo sells (maybe sold) 8mm Rem Mag ammo with a 250-gr bullet at 3000 fps. This beats all of the .323 rounds. I reload my 8mm Mag with a 250-gr bullet to 2900 fps. The 8mm Mag was loaded to 54,500 cup while the 416 Rem Mag (same case, same rifle) was loaded to 61,500 cup. If you load your 8mm Mag to 61,000 cup you beat all of the .323 rounds hands down! Just like the 416 Rigby is loaded to a lower cup than the 416 Weatherby, it can be loaded to equal the 416 Weatherby round (same case without the belt). However, speeding up the bullet reduces the penetration capability of the .416 bullet and reduces it's killing effect on dangerous game. Once you increase velocity above 2800 fps, you may be reducing the killing ability of your round, depending on your bullet's construction. Learn to shoot at a reasonable velocity. I can still place 5 rounds into a 5 inch circle at 500 yards with my Meachan Conversion 45 2.1" Sharps with a 550 gr paper patch Hotch pure lead bullet at 1250 fps.

I have been looking at building a .33 Nosler off my old Remington 700 7mm RM action. I can find plenty of factory ammo available for it until I get enough brass to start loading. The one thing that I'm concerned about, will converting the extractor to an AR style or Sako style extractor give positive feeding from the non-belted cartridge? The Remington extractor needs to be replaced on my bolt anyway so I'm just trying to get things planned out.

That's good too but forget the cornmeal, more of a beer-batter fan myself
. Actually never tried it with cornmeal i realize…there's very few foods I don't enjoy (cough-CILANTRO-cough cough) so I'm sure it's awesome haha
