338 XC, Snipetac, or EnABELR

Also just noticed in one of your earlier posts you said you were thinking 32" on the barrel? You're going to need a carbon barrel to make weight and I'm not sure I've ever seen one that long. In a proof, for that shank size, your only option is 375 caliber and that one is only 30" and it's still over 6 pounds.
What shank size does it need to be? Does the 1.25" not work with that action?

Honestly when I first read your requirements I thought it was impossible, but elk hunter 338 seems to have done it. Maybe reach out to him and ask him what he used.

I think I'm on the correct path. Didn't think about needing a bigger shank for that action, thanks for that. Might end up with a 30" barrel instead, but was hoping for a 32". I know fluting will help cut weight also. My math says I should be able to run a 6-6.5lb barrel, so hopefully I did it correct.

Closest you're going to get to that in steel is a Lilja 131 taper which is still going to be 8.71 pounds. Fluting will save a couple of Oz.

Ordered a Heavy Varmint from Brux today. Told them what I'm needing and they think it's doable. Their heavy varmint in 30 cal at 27" is 6lbs, so it might work out.🤞

If I was to do carbon, I think Carbon 6 or Hells Canyon Armory might be able to make one.

Yeah I think you will have better luck with hells canyon if you go carbon.

Glad you found something that will work for you. Those carbon blanks are out of sight, I think a helix runs something like $1200. One question why did you order a 30 caliber? I thought you were looking at 338's.

Sorry for the confusion. I ordered a 338. When talking with them, his chart was based on 30 cal for the barrel weights.

What MOA rail is everyone using? Stiller has 20 or 40, initially I was thinking 30 would be perfect.
