Hi All. I'm considering manufacturing and selling machined aluminum wheels for the annealeez annealer. I'm making this post to gauge interest/demand to determine if the job will be worth running. How many of you would be interested or know someone who would be interested in purchasing a set. I'm planning for a price point of $40-50 shipped per set, at the most. I'm planning for the wheels to be knurled on the outside to lightly to spin the case in the flame. No more melting the grip tape on the factory wheels or the wheels themselves!

I'd like to get feedback on how many would be interested in buying. What sizes would you want? I was thinking a large set and small set would cover all caliber needs. The large set will do as small as 6.5CM. With the wheels being aluminum you could run the flame close to the wheel.

Curious to get everyone's input and thoughts.

Thanks!

It's a worthwhile endeavor to design and test for a final product.
People who own the Annealeze have to be extra cautious to avoid burning the plastic ones. Me included.

Awesome! One of the advantages I like would be running the large wheels and being able to use smaller cases without changing the wheels. Once the case neck/shoulder is too short to clear the wheel you'd of course need to go to a smaller wheel.

Agreed. Perhaps I'll make a set and list them for sale and see if the interest is enough to justify making more. The knurling may require some fiddling to find which LPI works for spinning the case in place vs carrying it away from the flame.

Is there any copyright stuff you need to be aware of by the company and do you think the aluminum will not expand to stick a case if the flame is pointed to close and doing a large batch. But sounds like a great option. Also would those large wheels be able to handle something like 300RUM, or 338Lapua. I would be interested as well.

I'd be surprised if there was. There is nothing unique enough about that wheel design to have it's own patent. Your concern did cross my mind as well though.

Yes it would handle those. It would be similar to the large set annealeez wheels which will do those cases.

I would probably be interested in a set for doing 300BLK converted brass. That's the one I have the most trouble with because the case shoulders are so close to the wheels...

Count me in for a small set!

I would like a set for 6mmBR sized cases and another for 284 sized cases. (The machine comes with medium rollers; I needed to buy both the small ones and the large ones for what I shoot.)

Rubber to aluminum… Aluminum absorbs heat, rubber has some insulating qualities. Would there be an unintended consequence to this proposed design change? Would the aluminum wheels put excess heat into the case where we don't want it to be? Would they transfer heat to the motor or other parts more than the rubber wheels? What effects could this have on reliability?

All this needs testing. I'll send you $50 right now to get a prototype and help with the testing.

I like my Annealeez but as others have noted, the rubber wheels melt on a long run with small cases. I would hope they would come up with a solution but this might work. A combination of an outer aluminum ring over a rubber core might help keep the heat away from the hub on the motor.

Please put me down for a set of small wheels when you have them ready.
