Good article on why everyone either loves or hates the 6.5cr

My original response in #11 still stands. We can argue all we want, agree or disagree; like it or not, Hornady's design and marketing team and the 6.5 CM positively impacted the hunting and shooting world. Regardless of the cartridge, there will always be unhappy customers. No company, product, or services can satisfy everybody and there is no one size fits all solution

With R 26 you can get pretty close to 6.5 284 numbers. I never heard anyone bag on the 6.5 284. In fact it ruled F class for quite a while. People talk about marketing and hype. A 140 gr bullet going close to 3000 fps with a .640 bc is nothing to sneeze at manbuns not withstanding.
My daughter favorite round for deer hunting!

Sorry guys I was just having a little fun while illustrating that the ballistics of the 6.5 CM has been around as long as the 6.5x55. And that was/ is a fine round so I don't have a problem with it lol. It's Friday, enjoy.

Oh, I neither love nor hate the 6.5 CM, I just don't have a use for it. My DT SRS a1 .260 Rem barrel allows me to seat the bullets ridiculously long such that I get all the case capacity back and then some even with 142 grain VLDs. Then there are the 6 6.5x55 rifles as well as the .300 WM barrel for the SRS... I just really do not have a need for the CM, but I don't "hate" it.

Hornady has been spot on ever since they figured out their tactical line up in the early 2000's. If Remington had done the same and got their ammo and firearms divisions to co-operate with each other fine rounds like the 260 Rem and SAUM cartridges would of thrived. And the company would NOT be in the pickle it's in now. Okay stepping off my soapbox and looking for my clip on manbun. After all it is Friday.

I am very happy with 7mm-08, I haven't used or needed heavy projectiles but if that's what you need and you have a suitable twist rate then give it a go.
Mine, a Tikka CTR went well with 140gn so factory ammo.
I have had good results to date.
I think the 7mm-08 is simply a better proposition for hunting than 6.5cm,

If we could duplicate the exact shot on game with 7mm-08 and 6.5cm I'm still backing the 7-08.

I have real world results on pigs, I'm sure the 6.5 is capable bit under 500yards and on game the 7-08 hits harder.
No-one has any business taking hunting shots on game past 500, period.
This is the Long Range Hunting forum.

OOps, Sorry for getting off the track, I Bought a 264 Win mag in 1960 and have been fascinated by the caliber ever since. When the Creed came out i was thrilled "OH BOY" my 264 has a Baby Brother.

All else being said, I have to agree with Bean. just my 2 bits worth.
