Why i like my 260 rem so much now that there is no ammo over the 6.5 cm

There is an older offering in 6.5mm for which I have no problem at all buying components or ammuniton. 260 is great but ammunition or bullet availability does not seem to be any better than 6.5CM.

The reason the 6.5 creedmoor is so magical is Hornady convinced alot of people it was a 300 win mag...almost...at 1000 yards (Their words not mine). So a guy that shoots once a year before deer season gets one. He sets aside his push feed M70 in 30-06 or 7 mag (manly cartridges) and Voila! He used to get pie plate accuracy at 50 yards at best after getting slapped in the face by a plastic butt plate fitted, hardwood stocked, bruiser. Now even from a Savage Axis he can shoot it 10X better. He hits that first deer in the boiler room with a bullet made for deer not elk, and down it goes. Magic! He tells a buddy and lets him shoot it, and the rest is history. Any cartridge you shoot well will be more effective than one you can't. I don't care who you are, when you shoot 10 rounds a year it is hard to shoot a long action or mag action cartridge into small clusters. I shot my deer this year with a 6.5PRC and a 300Wby. Not just because I'm so manly😂, but because the 260s and creeds were being used by my kids and in-laws. Pass the popcorn please.

LMAO! Is a beard optional?

Is there really a definition of what a manly man cartridge really is?

No clear definition, but yeah. 20 years ago I took tons of abuse from uncles and that generation for shooting the .243 and .260 (whatever that is) as grown man. Those were for women and children. All of my cousins followed the uncles mentality. Those are the same folks that were borrowing those guns this year. they all have 30-06s and 300 magnums and they all shoot them poorly.

My question has always been if women and children can kill game with it why can't a man? Nobody says great gun for women and children but it can't kill anything. Putting the bullet in the right spot is much more important than if the gun can give you an eyebrow decoration.

Exactly. Hornady found a way to make it ok. As an aside, it is amazing how many folks out there think all 30-06 bullets are the same and the 150, 165, and 180 grains on the box is in reference to the powder pushing the core-lokt bullet.

Funny, even though I reload for all my rifles, I went CM instead of 260 some years back because there wasn't much 260 ammo on the shelves that I could cannibalize for brass, didn't want to spend the time to resize 308, and the CM was starting to take off. The CM became so popular that I collected some 500 rounds of once fired Hdy from the ranges I go to, plus started out with 100 Lapua which are on their 8th go-round and still running fine. While the Hdy has wider variances, a good OCW node works in both.

I admit to not liking recoil. Only a real man can admit to that. But I've shot BR for 30 yrs shooting free recoil with 2 oz triggers. Do that enough and you realize when you shoot a big gun how hard they kick. I literally remember saying to my son when sighting in his 243 "Wow this thing has some pop to it". Compared to a 10.5 pound 6ppc it did. Now I shoot a 300wsm in 1000 yard. But it weighs 77 pounds so I can handle that one. Recoil sucks.

I have a 6.5x284 and a 260 Rem IMP. 30 degree shoulders. Both are rugged one hole shooters. The 6.5x284 is my long range rifle I built for speed goat hunting years ago. The 260 is my PRS rifle for winds days when I feel the 6 Dasher will get bucked around. I'm getting ready to build another 260 with a carbon wrapped barrel for back country hunting.
