What do you think of the 6.5 WBY RPM ?

I did give you a bullet there is capable of competing with the 6.5 by 284 and that is the 210 grain Nosler Accubond long range from a 300 Weatherby. I would never use anything less to shoot in an animal, if I would shoot an animal at all, at these ranges.

I normally always use Nosler bullets, but in trying Barnes this year. I so plan to do some testing on that 210 ABLR in my .300 Win Mag too.

You never got any argument from me about 30 cals. I personally would never take anything less than a 30 with a 200 plus grain bullet for an elk hunt. WBY is not chasing the 30 cal market with the RPM/6lug action.

With less powder used, you would have 7mm Rem Mag performance with even less recoil. This could be a huge opportunity for a lot of folks to build Magnum performance rifles on .473" bolt faces.

7mm Dakota is an excellent cartridge design except for the non-standard rim. It is expensive to shoot though because of the brass

I have one and love it. I get frustrated with brass prices for it until I look at the better 28 Nosler brass prices. When I shoot this barrel out I will re-barrel for another 7 Dakota as long as I can find 200 pieces of brass.

Dear John. Your 270 with a 130 berger vld at 3180fps has 1200 ft pounds at 570 yards. My low performance 6.5 creed with a 147eldm at 2850 has 1200 ft pounds at 780 yards. Just a measly 220 yards further than your 270. So no you do not know your ballistics. But your 270 gets out run by my little creed from 175 yards and out. Your statements are just plain wrong. Nothing wrong with a 270 except your quotes on performance. Get a ballistic calculator and check it out.

Like the 26 Nosler it's likely unnecessary for 80% of hunting situations where a 6.5 /284 or 6.5 PRC could be used with MUCH less recoil and much longer barrel life.

OK, some will say, "But ya don't shoot a hunting rifle enough to wear out the throat." Well you do if you practice enough.

I need to see some prices first. Saw rifle price of $3000. If brass is going to be $2.50 or so each and loaded ammo at $75 a box that will be hard to swallow. Just seems that anything with a Whby in the name has a higher dollar value to it and not always in line for the product.

It is pretty cool and may not fit the full-on publics niche, but it is cool Weatherby expanded it's own niche. The 270 does not match the 6.5, but the 270Wby with an ABLR will stretch pretty far. The .257Wby may not be the cats *** at 800 yards, but it is unequaled to 500 as a pure medium game hunting cartridge. The 300 grainers in the 33 Nosler, 338 Ultra, or the 338-378Wby are the true performers, but the cost. And really, how much energy is required and is that per Field and Stream or Sports Afield? The RPM will be here to stay, hell you can still buy 240Wby ammo and brass and wide variety of rifles still with a 10 twist. I like it. Some take cream others sugar and some like one lump while still others prefer 2. Variety is the spice of life and while I may have been faithful to one woman for over 20 years...I shoot 10 different rifles a week!

You can run the 140 @ 3140 in the 270 and the difference is 20 yds in favor of the creed. Run a fast tw and 165 matrix 150 lrabor 170 berrger and the 270 will run with the others. 2900fps is achievable in the winny and 3000+ in the wsm 27 nosler and wby fairly easily. A .69 vs a .65,.66 bullet is still superior in the wind with a bit better sectional density also. Matching the 147 vs a 130 is an apples to volkswagons comparison at best

In both cases your looking at about 300fps advantage to the 27's which makes them superior. In the case iof the winny it's a 100yd+ advantage with that bullet at what they can be driven at in both cases. Change to the 147 and the creed has a 20yd advantage. However change to the 150lrab with the .591bc and your ahead of the creed and same with the wsm/prc.
