1410y Cow Elk Hammered

I was so impressed by that young lady and her dad I fail to mention the amazing performance of the hammer bullet. It's really encouraging to see even at extreme range the bullet had a large exit wound. I have a couple new rifles to work up loads for and i can see that Hammer's need to be on my reloading bench.

I gotta find a way of getting some 181 grn Hammers for my .308 and 214 Hammers for my .300 WM over here for me too try out ,still only just starting the load development built the rifle on the 212grn ELD-X so far they a fanflamingtastic , but all this talk with Hammer projectiles it ain't fair you lot have them and we don't
YET !!!!lol
Cheers

What's the twist on your 300 win mag ? If 1 in 10 use 181 Hammers not 199 or 214. Trust me. Tell him Steve.

G'day WYO300RUM
My .308 has a 1:10 30inch Palma heavy weight match. Shillen Barrel
And my .300 WM has a 1:10 33inch Palma heavy weight match Rock Creek Barrel
I built the .300WM on the 212grn Hornady ELD-X, and so far it shoots extremely well . I haven't finished running the barrel in only fired 30 rounds so far ,
Please explain you reasons for no more than 181 grn with Hammers ????

First and foremost thank you for sharing your daughter's success. It's apparent your responsible for developing her knowledge, skills and abilities. Hearing that she has harvested other big game along the way clearly indicates it's not her first trip off the reservation. Having raised my kids, their children, and now great grandchildren. You have set a positive example sharing your daughter's success. My family can relate to her example.
Congratulation to You and your entire family.

Being that they are a monolithic copper bullet, any given weight in any given caliber will be a longer bullet than the same weight lead core bullet, if they are both similar profile, such as these, geared towards long range and good BC. The 181 hammer is as long or longer than the 212 eld-x without the poly tip, and requires at least a 10 twist. The longer the bullet, the tighter the twist requirement to properly stabilize. The 199 hammer hunter (1.618" long, longer than the 212 eld-x) and 214 hammer hunter (1.752" long, as long as the new Hornady 230 A-Tip) bullets require a 9.25 and 9 twist to properly stabilize, respectively.

Sorry for getting off track!!
