Why no hate on the 6CM?

Not sure if your aware there is another 6mm option based off the .243 case 6CM (competition match) I am sure you can google it. I had a 1000 yard gun built with this because a friend and his son were both winning at the national level with it.

Like the title states...
Seems like people are more tolerant of the 6mm CM versus the 6.5. Why? Everyone likes to make the argument that the 6.5 doesn't do anything the 260 Remington, 6.5x47, et al didn't already do. The same (I suppose) could be said of the 6mm versus 243 Winchester. Is it strictly the twist? The 243 doesn't come in factory form with anything faster than a 9" twist. What's that good to, 107 grain maybe? I'm thinking of adding the 6mm just for this reason, factory rifles available that will stabilize most bullets (specifically monos).

Thoughts?

While I am not a 6.5 CM fan, what you said is in accurate. The 6.5 CM is a far more efficient case design vs the 260. It allows for longer bullets to be seated and not worrying about mag length. The 6.5 CM is also limited to bullets do to velocity and BC loss. The 120-140 class bullets perform well in the CM. To get optimal performance with the 260 and longer bullets, it needs to be ran on a medium action or single fed in a short action. The 6.5 CM beats the x47L out in velocities. The x47L was designed to run the 100-130 class bullets but a lot of us run the 140s at decent velocities. The x47L is inherently more accurate and easier to tune due to case design. The 6 CM is just that, a 6 CM. It doesn't really do much that the 243 or 6x47L doesn't do. It uses a touch less powder than the 243. It is also inherently more accurate than the 243. I personally run a 6 creed and a 6.5x47L in PRS matches. I've never jumped on the 6.5 CM bandwagon when it debuted in 2007-2008ish. It's a great design just not what I want. I

You know, you should'v just named the thread "I hate everything Creedmoor", since everyone with an account looses their shitze, at the mention of Creedmoor, and can't stay on topic FWIW.

. It is also inherently more accurate than the 243.

There's the penny that derailed the thread, lol.

But seriously, is there any rifles available in 243 in the styling of the HMR, or Howa KRG perhaps, that has the twist to handle the heavies? I'm not sure there is.

I've also gotten to the point where it's near impossible to find time to load my own ammo these days. The thought crossed my mind to pick up a 6 CM and a case of ammo just so I can have fun this summer when I do get a chance and worry about handloading over the winter. 200 rounds will last me a good while after all.

Because no one is claiming it's the perfect elk rifle or it's best suited for bear.
Basically all the 6.5 is a faster twist 260.

It's those PRS guys!LOL They can't handle the recoil from the "big" 6.5mm rounds so they have to drop down to the 6mm. I've been making fun of a buddy of mine who's a very competitive PRS shooter locally for always complaining about the recoil of the 6x47 Lapua shooting 115gr bullets in a 22# gun so he dropped back down to the 105s!
It's not a machismo contest, who can take the most abuse from recoil. It's about gaining a competitive edge. Such as, being able to spot your own shots, a fast recovery from recoil for follow up shots, staying on target, and high BC bullets that buck the wind. They're shooting paper and steel, the amount of energy doesn't matter. Just speed and accuracy.

The hipsters of the shooting community think that the 6.5 has become too mainstream. Comparatively speaking, most people have never heard of the 6mm Creedmoor ;)

To look at them objectively, both are excellent cartridges. If I didn't already have a 6BR, I'd build a 6CM. And if I didn't have 6.5x55's, a 6.5-284, and a 6.5-06, and had a spare short action sitting around, I'd strongly consider a 6.5 CM
I'd did strongly considered the 6.5 CM over the 260 Remington after watching a video by Sniper Hide the cheaper cost of the 6.5 CM brass or factory ammo over the 260 Remp and that the velocity is less than 100 FPS difference. Thank you for your input.

I like the 6.5 creed just because all the ammo manufacturers did jump all over it. Makes perfect sense to me to shoot a round that saturates the market.
I also have some pretty limiting neck issues that make me somewhat recoil sensitive. So much so that I rebarreled my lowly 308 to 6.5 creed for the recoil reduction. I was on the fence with the 6 creed when researching my new barrel. The 6.5 won out for avaliability and the heavier bullets since this is a hunting rifle, as well as a fun paper poker.
I dont give 2 flips what the fan boys or the haters think. It's a good, accurate round that doesn't kick much and kills paper and deer as good as most.

Had my 6 Creed out this morning. Factory RPR, paid $749 brand new. With factory ammo no less,, not sure I even want to handload for this one.

5 shots.

morning, the 260rem. is a much better cartridge than the CM.
people have there choices. the 6mm cr trying to substitute
for the 243 win. and the 6mm rem. I like the AI version
of the of both. very accurate. to choose the 6 cr against the 243
is apples and oranges. the 244 line of bullets is vast.
the 6mm rem. and 6mm cr r very close to twins.
when the brass faires for the cr lovers
begins to disappear, the old 243 and the 6mm will b around I also
have a 6mm AI. very accurate round.
so peel ur apples and oranges. justme gbot tum

If you have 90 seconds to put 10 rounds into multiple targets from improvised positions, a small change in recoil can make a difference in seeing your impacts and hitting those targets. Not so much for hunting or casual target shooting. It doesn't have anything to do with being able to "handle the recoil."
