Thanks, you guys messed things all up.

Good to have you on board. This site did the same thing to me. Hooked me so much that I have now made a new career out of it. Get out and shoot as much as you can, and don't be afraid to try this stuff. People here will always help you out if you have problems or questions. Generally everyone hear is friendly and will not laugh at you or pick on you. Feel free to ask, and tell us what you are up to.

I was blistfully happy changing over to be a handgun hunter and leaving rifles far behind. All have been sold or traded in on my handguns. My revolvers and TC encores are the bomb. I seen on a couple of sites that were dedicated to long range hunting. I will be the first to admit I always thought shooting at animals at the distances I hear about and see on TV was a disgrace. I have to be honest.

Well I was doing a search for something about bullets or whatever and it brought me here. I was like oh GOD whatever. Well I started to read and read and read some more. Watching stuff on TV and Youtube.. YEAH I KNOW but I knew NOTHING about this stuff you do. I started to be changing my mind on this stuff. How dedicated to precision you all are. AMAZING

Well after a few days on here I couldn't take it anymore not having a GOOD rifle let along ONE LOL. I did a lot of searching on here for what could be a great rifle to get me the results I would be looking for. I just bought now just a few hours ago on Guns America a Reminton 700 Sendero SF II in 7mm rem mag. No glass on it for awhile to save funds and to learn what is good and what is not for what I want. I am from the old school, sighting in at 100 yards and hold over for longer ranges. Now you guys turn a knob and shoot at 8036 yards. LOL. I have NO CLUE about what I could or would want. I will ask later. its mind numbing..

But I have to say my opinions are changing and feel bad for how I judged you all. SORRY. You guys are a VERY DEDICATED AND PRACTICED type of person that you put more time than many into your craft or weekend warrior.

I am 45 and have been reloading for about 27 years now. At first on RCBS single stage and now my Dillon XL 650. I am looking forward to talking a lot more about things I want to do to my new rifle.

Oh What is GREAT BRASS for rifles? it was always Lapua as best or has it changed.

I am confident after spending time here I made a great choice with the sendero for a great platform to start with.

Take care and looking forward to learning more from you guys.

Brian
This place is truly evil. Since joining I've added 7 Rifles to my collection and have bought a total of 15 scopes, some upgraded, some for the 7 new rifles.

Once you start shooting it will get really bad!gun):D

thanks Steve for the welcome. I would never be able to make any career out of this as I am not very technical in any way. I have started my process of reading here on scopes. Nightforce 5.5x22 A something or whatever is on my list. But mil vs MOA is giving me a headach. Dont you just zero at a hundred and hold over the target by about 3 or 4 feet and pray

WR, It got so bad for me to find and first rifle again to get back into it I knew I wanted to start with a popular and pretty common round. HENSE the 7mm rem mag. Very capable cartridge. But I was also looking at picking up another sendero in 7mm stw or Rum. I always liked the 7mm. Always. Big fan. Then I was thinking hmm maybe for a BIG gun a 300 rum shooting the 210 vld at 3150 should be the hammer of thor. You already have me looking at 3 new rifles. gun). How can I get this one past the wife:D.

Mil or MOA makes no real difference.

Just input it correctly in your ballistics program and it comes out right either way.

You look at the dial and count 1,2,3 etc .whatever and dial up what your computer or drop chart tells you.

I have 2 Senderos in 300 Rum and they are indeed fun to shoot. Think about your future hunts though and what you actually "need".

If it were me I'd probably buy Senderos in 300wm, 7mm STW, and at least a 300 Rum just to have the "family" but hopefully you're not as far over the edge as I am.

I'm an addict, I admit it, I had four perfectly good 7mm STW's I love and I just HAD to add one more this week!

This is incredibly addicting but at least you can generally get at least half to two thirds of your money back on any decent rifle or scope if you decide to trade again.

WR. I try to NEVER EVER bring NEED Into anything with my guns. Why= because I could take on anything I would ever hunt in NA and most of the world with a 445 supermag revolver and a good quality 338 or better yet 340 weatherby mag. No fun in that! Thats why need is never brought up.

It comes down to what I would like. Thank GOD!

I use shooter for Android on my phone. I think it cost 5.00 or so.

If you want a dedicated unit then look on ebay for "Nightforce ballistic calculator". They have it loaded on rehabbed palm pilots and you can pick them up for under a hundred bucks.

Welcome to the site. I too am a novice to LR shooting and hunting but it is a wonderful hobby and the crowd on here is simply the best.
