Wyoming 90-10, it’s starting

As a lifetime Wyoming resident who enjoys the opportunity to hunt other states. I am happy to see the 90/10 become law for the big 5. It is insanely hard to get a tag as a resident, there are so few tags as it stands and I defenitley understand the frustrations of non residents but its our state so I support the decision. As for elk deer and antelope.. thats a different story. The WGFD manages our elk and deer quite poorly. The only thing they manage more poorly than deer and elk is money. The money from tag sales should benefit wildlife, not but new truks and build huge new office buildings. so the WGFD income loss from fewer NR tags is of no concern. I personally love to see nonresident hunters here enjoying our wonderful state. We residents still get most of the tags and NR hunters do not affect my odds. They are great for the economy, they come in and spend money at local hotels and resturants etc. I Hope they leave the tag allotments for everything else alone. Even better I would like to see fewer tags in many areas, maybe get rid of many of the general tags and create more limited quota areas. after all its not about creating opportunity for everyone its about healthy population and numbers for the fortunate ones who do draw.

Investements..into entertainment...
Get their money back...haha....do you get your money back on scratch-off gambling tickets.....no...you put it in..you lose it..gone.....
Oregon had 90/10 long ago...
I some cases it helped guides because they got tag mounts allocated to them..better than drawing odds..
Only real drawback to this is if animals have a problem(winter die off..disease) those tag numbers could be reduced again.....
Best thing could come out of it is residents getting opportunities for sustenance tags.....
Guess more California's would need to become VEGANS.......
So your saying that only non residents from California can
Apply in Wyoming, never heard that before .

Is and always was a gamble.
The Gamble is to get drawn when you put your chips on the bet. All gamblers bet when the odds are in their favor. Until then they are still your chips and you can gamble with them or cash them out. Casinos would be shacks if you gave them your money with no chance to win gambling or to get your cash back if you don't.

That's an absurd assumption you made..
Lots of states have many game animals...CA obviously doesn't per population....eat more veggies is what Drs say....CA grows lots of asparagus...you can have my share....yuck...

My guide buddy in oregon guides many clients each year.....'most do not want the meat...just the antlers and capes...
And they spend lots of money on those hunts....
If you pay dearly for a guide..tag prices shouldn't hurt the wallet....

Not a good thing when people have been buying preference points for $150 a pop over 20 years. That's a lot of money to have invested only to have the state change the rules of the game on you.
Nobody on planet earth has paid $150 for 20 years. Not even close.

Kinda sounded like you stated that California's going to have to have more people turn to vegans, right ?
So it sounded like California hunters were the only ones who hunt in Wyoming .

That would be in the cost of our resident tags. I am sure they will go up in the next few years. Someone has to pay for all the 4 door F350s driving around with the redshirts inside.
You couldn't be more right! I was fueling up in Cody a couple days ago and one of the wardens was pulling out and that pickup that can't be more than 2-3 years old was rarely, bent up and looked like crap. He hit the road driving it like he stole it. These are supposed to be Stewards of our game and funds…

No, but I am aware enough not to dump my hard earned $ into long-shot draws with more hunters, more point creep, and less game to go around. The writing has been on the wall for years. All one had to do is look at draw odds and point creep annually. It is public information and posted every year.
I see draw odds going down, hunting pressure going up, and point creep going crazy, I elect not to gamble!
Wyoming has made it known publicly that this issue was very possible, and it has been discussed in open forum for several years.

Many wardens (all of them in my area of WY) drive ten+ year old beaters. Regardless, states have the right to spend their funds how they deem necessary.
Personally, I would be happy to see our wardens get a new ride since they spend much of their time in the back country alone on marginal roads/two tracks in potentially hazardous conditions.
What a warden drives has no bearing on this issue. Comparing apples to golf balls.

That's a good thing, residents should get preference and I'm not from Wyoming. Not sure how they came up with the math in this article but whatever?? Does show the problem with preference point systems and how point creep will eventually get out of control.
IS state of Wy.applying for and accepting federal funding....???
If so I believe those of us who donate through federal taxes should be given preference...
How much money in preference point apps.is paid every year, just sitting while the intrest is going somewhere..????

Well in that case, I see your point.
My buddies and I want to throw a bachelor party next Saturday. We would like to use your house for the venue. Maybe just the kitchen, living room, a couple of bathrooms, and the porch/grill. After all, we pay federal taxes and you gain from them with roads, schools, infrastructure, national defense. We would like to start at five p.m. and maybe wrap up by noon Sunday.

I am from WY and now I might get a moose tag before I'm too old to hunt them. I don't want to see this happen to pronghorn or even deer and elk for that matter. We have more antelope than people and they are fun to hunt. I don't want to see that locked up. I have met a lot of non-resident hunters that are good people. So I have mixed feelings on the subject myself.
Yes! They should have done this in Nevada also!! Too many of us that will never get an elk tag before we die! At 76 I left 10 [points on the table when I moved to Az.
