Why the mad dash on reloading supplies?

That NY mess should get a Supreme Court look. Those idiots made the law without even seeking public opinion or anything. Not that they are required too, but come on, them idiots work for the people. The peoples voice was not given a chance to be heard. I feel sorry for them too and I hope the NRA or someone causes enough stink that it creates a constitutional sanity check by the Supreme Court. IMO, that was knee jerk reaction and the fallout from it should not be ignored by the courts.

I agree, evrything has gone crazy with the group in power....
They don't realize it , but we got the AR's to take back our country with, and it scares them.
They, among others who defile their oath - their basic humanity, should be on their knees every night praying to Jesus, that SHFT never hits the fan...

Midway nor anyone can now ship, ammo, bullets, primers, powder or brass (any component of a cartridge) to New York because of the laws they just passed. I saw this on another forum 2 days ago, some guys had orderd bullets to reload with from Midway and when they went to check out a banner came up and informed them they could no longer ship any componet or ammo to New York,
Some got the same thing from Sinclair and Cabelas. This will no doubt happen in some other crazed states that think like New York. I feel sorry for the rest of New York state because New York city rules the state.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't apply to the government. How's that make you feel?

Talk about over reacting, when will the American people wake up. Look how easy it is to throw people into panic mode, it's kind of emabarrassing to see. They really ruin it for the rest of us who are casual shooters/reloaders when we need powder/bullets/primers and can't find any because these paranoid people were "scared " into buying everything in sight. STOP over reacting if this pertains to YOU......think about the rest of us and not just yourselves! lightbulb

YOUR right CHARLIE... WE, the shooters cause our own problem, I can't believe we fell for this again so soon after the great primer shortage of just a few years ago, but we bit again at the bait. The only winners are the shooting industry and the manufacturers and man did they make out this time. I live near one of the largest gun shops in size and volume anywhere in the USA and it's right in the middle of dead center gun crazy and citizens who are to right of far right. They are having their annual shooters sale this weekend, you'd have to be here to believe what's been going on.. the gun crazy nuts are buying everything and anything that goes bang!! I'd like to know the total amount of cash that was handed over for NOTHING, just plain crazy ideas. I've never heard such unfounded fears in my life being spoken by the nuts packed shoulder to shoulder.. IT was SAD and almost PATHETIC to listen to more nonsense than anyone should hear in a lifetime of sickness... WHY is it that we react this way each and every time anyone confronts anything in the shooting world!!!!

You guys do realize that the "casual shooter" does not buy enough to bother keeping a gun store open for. It is the "nuts",collectors and avid shooters that keep the whole industry alive so there is ever anything to bop down and pick up when you feel the sudden urge. These shops are the logistics network for most of us, without the high spots in business, there would be no point keeping the door open for the low spots. They do what they can, when they can and in times like these some folks are willing to pay the premium to have whatever makes them feel better. I can't blame any of them.

I disagree with that, and I blame all of the selfish people for the problems were having now. What do you consider the casual shooter to be? You don't think there's hundreds of thousands if not millions of casual shooters in the country buying supplies. These people don't buy enough supplies to keep businesses operational?

I don't have a lot of ammo stocked up, because if the SHFT hits, there will be plenty laying around. A little bit of paranoid doesn't hurt anybody. If the SHFT fan comes , its better to be prepared than not too. Remember our borders are open too and Obama wants to disarm us all. Calif & NY for examples, No matter how you look at it, this Country of ours is in Great Perilgun)

I don't know, I think the weekend warrior is a lot of the trade at the local shops I buy from.

And I know the club I belong to is going to see things fall off if the weekend warrior can't buy ammo for his 5.56 or 9mm. This club leveraged itself against the wishes of long time members such as me, they spent money like drunken sailors expecting everything to be onward and upward. If ammo dries up long term this club will fail and my shooting will then just involve hunting. I have been preparing for this for a few years.

I had not been out in a gun shop in 4 months but I went last week to buy a box of .22 long rifle hollow points and 2 pounds of powder and a 2 boxes of bullets to reload with. I got a pretty good shock as you all can guess, I'd been reading some of what has been going on but had no idea how bad it is. I saw only 4 Ar's in a shop out of over 75 they had the last time I was in. They have raised the price over $700, I think you could call that greed by any standard and seems to be the American way any more every where. I for one will remember this if I buy another gun.
I do like to reload during the winter for shooting at the range in the coming year and I am down to about 15 .22 shells. I cannot find a box of .22's any where, I went to several places even Bass Pro. I did get 1 pound of powder from them but no bullets. They were basically out of most powders except shot gun powder. They did not have much in the way of bullets in the most popular ones, and didn't have what I needed for my 300wm. or 6.5 Creedmoor.
I tried to oder some VLD's and what I wanted was either out of stock or discontinued. So I went on Bergers web site and there was a notice they have discontinued making certain bullets to free up machinery to make the ones in higher demand because of the political climate since the election. This was posted before the shooting of the kids. That tells you a lot right there.
All this is a sad state for us all and I have no idea when it will be better. I will just have to shoot fewer times until it gets better for I was not prepared for this for sure.

Not typically on a local scale, I am of course referring to gun shops not just sporting good stores that carry guns. One of my local guys has had a huge selection of semi-auto rifles and there typical ammo sitting stagnant on the shelf forever, Now he has none. If the guy up the street jacked his prices as the market rose, He would be the only one with significant supply still available. So...If a guy was really in need, at least he would have some source of supply. This example is about guns but the same applies to loading supplies. I have had times where I needed something and for any number of different reasons it was unavailable for a long time. So.... When I see a possible disruptions in supply be it fear stoking preppers, production or supply problems or wannabe gun grabbers harassing a specific market, I take notice and then I take note of my inventory and if there is anything I know I will need and it may be hard to get in the near future, I go get it. Not to try and deplete the supply or drive up prices or make things more difficult for anyone. I do not feel the need to have a monopoly on h1000 gun powder but if I plan on using a pound a week I need to have some stocked up. Nothing selfish about it. It was for sale, I needed and wanted it to continue my activities so I bought it. Simple and fare, buyer got what he payed for, seller sold what he needed to sell. Win/Win...... unless someone walked in behind me looking for the same thing but neither of us can count on that. He is in business to sell....sold=mission accomplished. Hopefully it worked good enough for him to get more and have it on the shelf waiting for the next guy or the next time. Again....... Nothing selfish just supply/demand/sell and repeat.

Only if YOU let it by being passive and apathetic to Obamas Socialist ideals, excatly what he wants.

Get active, join the NRA. contribute, write letters, talk to your friends and everyone you can.

Don't sit on your butt and expect it to go away. It won'r. In fact apathy will get yoy 100% gun control.

I look at this as a challenge to show the people in this country and the government that we are capable to rise above the morass and take back what was granted to us, as citizens, long before Obama was even conceived and that is 'The right to bear arms against a tyranical government'

Our founding fathers were a helluva lot smarter than this butthole we now have in office... Don't forget whats occuring come election time. Your vote counts.
