A new Mark V might just be a tad over the expected budget. Maybe if you shop hard and are sharp negotiator you could be in that range.
The cartridge selection and the choice of 6-lug and 9-lug actions certainly makes the decisions easier.
It's a tough decision as to how to get a conversation going with your father to help decide about a new rifle. But I believe that this is the right path to take to insure his joy with the final choice.

Well I had my mom talk to him a little about what's in his gun future and what he'd want to get and he said shotgun so thanks for everyone's help and I'm definitely gonna remember all that for the future but for now I'm going to get him a beretta a400
