What’s this bullet?

Can anyone tell me the idea behind the bullet in this .308Win round. I wouldn't imagine it's very aerodynamic. 150gn Sellier & Bellot.

Almost looks like a sabot design... Whatever it is, it's definitely odd... Never seen anything like that in a .308 Win or 7.62x51...

Quick search... It's an S&B 150gr. SPCE (Soft-Point Cutting Edge) bullet. Never heard of it before.

The also offer this SPCE bullet in a 180gr. for the .308 Win. according to their website.
