Top go-to powder for 30-06 with 168-172s

I bought some a couple of years back, been saving it for a special occasion. Alliant seems to be AWOL on many of it's powders.

Same for R#23.

Here is the target from my final load for 30-06 with 172 Speer Impact.
Shot this today at 100 yards.
I tried the Speer recommended seating depth but my long freebore preferred a bit farther out.
I also took it out to 200, 300 and 400 and smacked dead center vertical with a bit of wind hold from the Vortex Razor 2-10 with G4 reticle.

Hope to get terminal performance results this weekend on a management hunt.

R-P brass
Powder- 56.5 gr H4350
Primer- CCI 200
Seated 115 thousandths off lands.
2860-2870 fps

I loaded longer and shorter and none were bad so they must be forgiving on seating depth.
Load work was very easy.

With that said, I originally tried them in my 300 SAUM and did not have good results but only tried one powder.
After seeing this result, I may pull it out again and work up some other combinations.

This was in a factory Rem 700 with 24" barrel that always shot very well with different loads.

I still use 3031 for my 308 Target loads with 115 grn Berger bullets. Good Powder.

And this has what to do with ? a 30-06 168-172 bullets ? Huh

We were at the range two days. Buddy brought out his 30'06, shot the 215s, 175ELDX, and 168 Berger Hybrids. The 168s were running at around 3000 through 26 inch Bartlein CFW. Powder used was 2000MR, 55 grains, 250 CCI, LC 68 Match brass.

The 168 Hybrids shot inside half minute at 500 yards

Lenny was talking about the use of the Good old. 3031 powder. And that it's still a good one with all the new stuff out there these days. But I won't speak for him. But that was my interpretation of it and a good one too.
