IMR 4831 Go to powder for what?

I'd say no,unless your in extreme cold ,Or trying to lite ball powders, they the non magnum primers worked fine in my 270 WSM , Cheers, pardon my interruption, just my 2cents
Thank you, I have 4831sc, that I bought for my 270. I've have to look up the load for that power in 7mm Wby Mag. I've always heard for the most part that the primer matched the powder. Be great to use the same primer that my 6.5 Creedmoor, 270 and 30-06 use!

59.5 Grns. H 4831SC in my 270 Win. 130 Grn Nosler Ballistic Tips. In matched Light Win Cases. 3017 to 3028 FPS from the 24inch BBl. Very Nice Whitetail deer load!! I also use it in some .270 Weatherby Mag loads as well.

Federal's . 308 Win 168 grain match load uses both IMR 4831 and IMR 4064. According to Water's Pet Loads, military 7.62 Lake City Match also uses IMR 4831 and I have also had good luck with 4831 duplicating that load. I have also had very good accuracy duplicating Federal's load with both powders behind a Sierra 168 gr match bullet. It's not super fast but shoots tiny little holes in paper.

Catching up to this decades old post, I have a lot of IMR4831 and have used it in 243, 25-06, 264 Mag, 270 Win, 7 Rem Mag, and 300 Win Mag. It tends to work better with heavier bullets although my 270 and 130 Partitions work best with 59 gr.

I use WIN LR Primers in my 270 Win loads, with 59.5 Grns. of H 4831SC, 130 Grn. Ballistic tips ; I use Fed 215 M primers or WIN LR Mag primers for my 270 Weatherby Mag or 300 Weatherby Mag loads. Those 2 primers are used, in the Magnum loads weather the powder is H 4831 ; H 4831SC or IMR 4350.
