I have tested a lot of Barnes TTSX in .35 whelen and small amount in .308 with TTSX 168 grain. Just acquired some 130 grain TTSX for long distance comparisons with other brands.
I was surprised with penetration of 130 TTSX due to 3200fps verses 2730fps with the 168 grain. There was quite a difference in impact explosion between the two. The 130 penetrated into 7th. jug. The 168 penetrated into 4th. jug.

What's been your observations for the 35 wheelen performance?
I don't know what velocity or bullet weight you are pushing but my only experience on critters with Barnes ttsx was a .358 180 gr in 358 Grant. MV was 2985fps and impact velocity of 2400fps and impact energy of 2300 ft/lb (according to JBM) . A 200 yard shot.

The buck went about 20 yards and expired. Exit was about 1".
Of course no fragments or recovered bullet. But the only thing recognizable in the upper cavity of the buck was the bottom half of the heart.

I hunt deer and bear with a whelen. I think it is the most under rated round in history. I love it. I shoot 180 TTSX in mine at 3000fps.

**** dude!
Im loading 58.5 gr of Benchmark for an accuracy load. Have gone to 3060 but the groups opened up 1 moa. What powder are you running?

I reload mostly but I picked up a factory load from Barnes of 180 grain. I found 6 boxes at Academy Sports for $24.00 a box. They are listed at 3000fps.gun)

A few years ago I did some one gallon milk jug blasting. In fact we did 101 because that's how many the pickup would hold. I purchased a new 2X6 that day for the job. We did everything from .224 through the .375. Following are the results from the .375.

.375 300 Nosler Partition (.375-.416 Rem) 2,925 in the seventh. One weighed 232 the other 204.

.375 260 Nosler Partition 2,976 (.375-.416 Rem)in seventh weighed 190

.375 260 Nosler Accubond 2,982 (.375-.416 Rem) in the sixth weighed 160

Here's an unbelievable surprise.
.375 265 G.S. Custom 3,044 (.375-.416 Rem) out the back side of the seventh. It was laying between the seventh and eighth and weighed 196. Despite this one weighing less than the 300 Nosler, it broke the new Doug Fir 2X6 . It produced a spectacular photo. The jugs after the whiteness of the first few are all in a row with a little water squirting out their tops. What makes it so fun is the 2X6 is gone! It was blasted downward by the water trying to get away from the "wound channel".

John Lachuck (gun writer) photoed every shot, John Ludden (son-in-law) read the Oehler 33 and yours truly shooting big stuff without getting thumped because I use muzzle brakes on everything.

i also use the TTSX 180 gr in a little wildcat 35. the final load i ended up with it is at 2450fps and have taken a cpl elk ,deer, and black bear with it. it groups nice and so far all shots have at 200 yrds and under . i would have no problem using this load out to 300 yrds. i also use the TTSX 80gr in a 25x47 pushing it to 3100 fps and have used it on deer, antelope, caribou, black bear, tahr, chamiois with the longest shot being 414 yrds. i am a big fan of the TTSX bullets in some rifles i have and in others it is not that good. in a 416 it does not have a very deep pocket and opens very little and acts more like a solid
