Scope Selection for LRH .300 WM

I am looking around for a scope to put on my new custom rifle, have been mainly looking at the Leupold VX6 3-18x50 Firedot. It's currently on sale for 1499.00 on midway usa. Any other recommendations? or has any had experience with this scope. My limit is about $1500.00

I plan on doing a lot of hunting with this gun, typically from 100 to 500 yards. Would like to be able to pracetice out to 800, although I understand this would take some time. Thanks!

Lots of scopes meet that range for much less money. Vortex hst 6-24x50 would be my choice. Spend the other $1000 on reloading stuff, binos, another rifle build .....
