For barrel protection. Certainly nothing to do with accuracy. Not all of my barrels are chrome-lined & some may sit for a year or more between outings. Burned carbon attracts moisture so......

Thank You for noticing Mr. Shade!!! Many years ago I had the old Butterknife Bolt handle cut off and new traditional bolt handle welded on, the Bolt, The extractor Claw and the follower were all jeweled at that time. A more classic ;look I thought!!

Not much more versatile than the 30-06!
There's not any argument you could have to convince me that it's not.
As far as break in, being 30-06 with great barrel life, why not just break it in? Right or wrong, it certainly doesn't hurt a thing. That late great JE Custom! (RIP Jerry your are truly missed old friend). Recommend it, and that's good enough for me!

Which copper solvent yall use? Any specific name brand or just copper solvent.

I prefer sweets but and reputable copper solvent is good.
