Got a friend that wants me to reload 300 Win Mag for hunting, has been really happy with the precision hunter Hornady 200gr ELD-X, anyone have any idea which powder to use to get similar performance from and any other thoughts?

Howdy, as mentioned hard to tell what powder they use. I've heard it's a Blend.
Hear are some loads from Speer New Load Book. I like the big variety of powders they have. Hope this helps.

That's the same Hornady manual that I use. My .300 WM likes H1000 with the 200 Gr ELD-X. Best group on mine was 74 Grains, but I use 76 Grains for hunting. It groups .02 larger groups on average at 100 yards. Muzzle velocity is just over 3000 FPS. I have not stretched it past 340 meters yet.

The only reloaded 200 gr bullets in Hornady I shot were the ELD-X 71.6 grs Re 22.Book said 2850 fps and it was very close,2877 fps in my rifle.
Accuracy was on par with 180 gr Nosler Accubond. It could have more velocity but accuracy in my rifle went downhill after 71.6 grs.
I agree with Ol' Red as H1000 is the best but at the time I could not get H1000.

I had a load worked up with Re22 that was very promising. Then I ran out of powder and could not find anymore. I went Re26 and got a good load, but ran out of that powder. I picked up 4 pounds of H1000 and it works good in my rifle. Someday I want to try Re22 again. If you have you will not be disappointed.
