Recommend a .243 FB varmint bullet

I am looking for a more fragile bullet for my 6mm over my usual 85 grain Sierra Varminter. I loaded some V-Max in 65 and 75 grain weight as well as Sierra 80 grain Blitz. None of these bullets shot under 1 to 1 1/4" groups, different powders and seating depths. I have seen this before where a boat tail would not shoot but a flat base bullet would shoot great.
Has anybody shot the 70 grain Nosler Varmageddon? I am looking at these bullets as well as 70 grain Speer TNT's. I also noticed some 55 grain FB from Nosler. ANy experience or recommendations would be appreciated.

Exactly the bullet a buddy recommended and I told him it was discontinued as well as the 70 SP and SXSP. Really sucks the plastic tip boatails are all that seems to sell so when you do find a gun that is not partial to a BT bullet you don't have many great choices left.

What rifle you running ,twist, powders,been reloading long, just saying,how hard you pushing your reloads,if your maxed out groups will and do open up like you say , but do try them speers@noslers ,primers can make a big difference , sometimes it's simple with load combos ,sometimes it's not ,info helps,jjmp

700 BDL Sporter barrel, twisted 9, IMR-4064 and IMR-4350, loading over 20 years. Going to load a few that are neck sized with same components and if no better try different primers.

Ordered a box of the Noz 70 Varmageddons last night and a buddy is checking a local shop for me to see if any Hornady 75's left in stock.

Also going to try Hybrid 100-V that shoots 1/4-3/8" groups with FB 85's.

not sure what you a are shooting at. how far off the lands are you? i have loaded for a lot of .243s. 37.5 I 4064 and an 85 sierra bthp . .030 off the lands, lapua brass and a 210M or a br-2 primer. exellent.

while the first of the FB bullets i would try would be an 80 berger. varget or I4064. or a 68 , a 68 collumn, or an 88 or a 69 depending what you are shooting at. also 68 gentner .

Very good bullet. I have used the 85gr Sierra HPBT over H4831 for years to take everything from deer to coyotes.

Ok 10GM,thks for the info, your doing fine I've found fed 210s work very nicely for me with r/p,w-w or f-c brass , it's good your tring the powder you mentioned ,don't discount speers TnT 70 grainer . Good luck shoot straight ,regards jjmp

If you could find some the berger high bc flat base bullets would be interesting to try out...

Serria 60 or 75 varminter not blitzking are flat base. I've used the 60 in an 243ai as well as a straight 243. Shot very well for me. I mostly use the 70blitz 75hp vmax and 87 vmax now. I no longer chase for fur but would go back to that 60 if I was going to use a 6mm.
For powders 4895 and 4064 worked well. Varget was not around then but with what it has done with the 70 n 75 I would try that also.
If you try the 87 vmax use 100v you can get more than 3300 with a straight 243 without pressure. I went upto 3425 before I found the top. However I don't shoot much from April till Nov.

60 grain Sierra HP is very accurate & devastating on coyotes with very few exit holes if you are into skinning. They will put a jackrabbit into 3 different zip codes as well!!!

I own the Rem 700 sps Varmint. I only use H100v and these 80 grain right at 3470 fps Winchester brass CCI 200 primers. I annealed, trimmed, resize, and then neck turned. All my empty brass before reloading. I recently converted about 500 Lake city 308's to 243 The case holds less powder, but you are not filling them anyway with modern dense powder. I'm working on a load using Superformance and these 80's. Neck turning really brings in accuracy

I tried 72 and 75 HP's in the past and the 80's just work the best. I think that my FPS with a 26 inch 9 1/8 twist exceeds stabilization in sub 80 gr.

The 1 in 9 twist may have something to do with it? It's more tailored for the heavier bullets. Try a 90 grainer. My mossberg patriot has a 1 in 10 twist and always shoot 1/2" groups with the 70 grain nosler varmegeddons
