I picked up this rifle a few weeks ago from Travis at RBros Rifles.

Decided to try the new ELD-X and see how they do.

Weight of the Hornady ELD-X bullets varies about .5 grains on both sides of 143, of the 20 or so I weighed I got weights from 142.5-143.5. The Ogives differ by a total of .005

after sighting in and shooting the brass once to Fire Form to the chamber I loaded a few to check charge weights. By the way the FF loads shot very well with 140 VLD's and the 143 ELD-x

11 shots with FF loads at 100 yards in a 15 MPH wind from right to left. Adjusted scope after first shot and fired the last 10.

this is 7 shots with FF loads at 100 yards with the 143 ELD-X in a variable wind from right to left

These are load work up testing full power loads with the 143 ELD-X, I loaded 5 of each and shot three at these targets then two over the Magnetospeed.
200 yards 59. 59.5 and 60 gr Powder

I had a few 59.5 left (loaded 15 of these to zero scope and foul the bore) made easy hits at 710 and 903 on steel to verify bullet BC.

Very Nice. Where is the picture of the gun? I am patiently waiting for my 6.5X47 from RBROS. Should be shipping any day.

3141 seems pretty hot to me. I have a 6.5-06 that's right at 2950 in a 26" barrel. 200 FPS more from an Ackley chamber just seems like a lot to me.

Although, if you had a 30+ inch barrel that would make a little more sense. Are you getting any pressure signs? Nice looking gun btw, and heck of a shooter.

4831 would be the better choice in the Ackley Improved chamber I think. I'm running IMR 4350, but if I had an Ackley I think I'd switch to 4831.

Retumbo, h1000 and rl26 are much better powders in the ackley case. H4831 will top out in pressure before you hit the velocity potential. This velocity is pretty normal on my 6.5-06ai builds.

Not an exact comparison. But my 6.5 Sherman likes N570. This powder has produced the best speed and ES for me. Max load of N570 and a 140 Berger will get just over 3300 fps.

I'm going to have to disagree. I use H1000 is my 338/378, and 300 Win Mag, and I used Retumbo in a 26 Nosler I used to have. A 6.5-06 is nowhere near what a 26 Nosler would be.

What's the temp sensitivity like on that N570?

H4831SC topped out at 3100 fps in my Ackley.

Temp sensitivity seems pretty good. I am in southern Manitoba so we see huge temperature variation. I can shoot in September at 70F and in winter it can be -20 to -25F. I have never chronograped in the -25 range but have shot steel out to 900 yds and still made hits. N570 is getting hard to find. Just picked up 3 more lbs this week. 3100 fps with the AI sounds good to me. I don't think i would change powder if it was accurate. 3339 fps was my MAX. I ran 100 rounds like this but now have backed it down to around 3260 fps.
