Looking for opinions on this "economical" action. Planning a 7PRC hunting build, but can't get too crazy with the budget.

Currently looking at a Savage OEM ultralight action from J/A, or perhaps this pure precision, as I can get a shouldered prefit from Preferred Barrel Blanks.

Thoughts on quality, handling, etc?

Anyone know the weight for an LA with rail?

The long action steel weighs 29oz. Assume the rail will weigh 1.5-2oz. No experience with them but have considered the Skltn models several times.

I use them often for builds. Just finished a 300 PRC in a left handed Summit. Once cerakoted they are smooth. They are fine actions. Mack Bros makes a skeleton type version called the element. They run about the same price but much lighter. Both are good.

The MacBros seem to be unobtanium and never in stock, though it appears the LA EVO II Stainless is in stock for once (EDIT: dang, out of stock, was looking at the SA) and basically the same price as the Summit.

Do you have any comment on which you'd prefer, EVO II vs Summit?
