Prime ammo vs virgin norma brass

While researching reloading 6.5 creedmoor I came across some old posts on other forums saying prime ammo uses norma brass for their 6.5 offerings. I emailed the company to verify and while they did say their brass was made by norma, they claimed to be unsure if it was the same quality of brass that norma puts their own name on and sells as virgin brass.

I would like some input from those with experience. If it really is the same brass it seems like a normal brainer to buy the loaded ammo since it is roughly the same price as virgin norma brass.

I've also considered just getting a couple hundred pieces of 1x fired hornady to hold me over until lapua releases their creedmoor brass but I don't like the idea of putting in the time and money to work up a load just to switch brass and start over. Or has hornady stepped their brass game up and actually made it worth using?

Lapua is obviously the best, I shoot Lapua in as many cartridges as possible. Next favorite brand is Nosler. But I use just about every brand out there. Hornady is not bad stuff at all. As a matter of fact, I've had excellent accuracy and consistency with their Match .308 Win brass, and I exclusively use Hornady for my .357 Mags, .44 Mags, and 6.5 Grendel.

I've gone through about 600 rounds of the stuff in 6.5CM. I saw that early on and decided to shoot 1,000 rounds and that would give me plenty of once fired to start reloading for it. I really like it. Can't speak to direct comparison to Norma, but I haven't had a single issue so far. I get good velocity out of the stuff, and plenty accurate for my tactical matches at over 1k. It was a no brainer for me. Buy it, and have a once fired to start your reload vs a virgin brass! Un-related, the company is very nice to deal with. Probably the best CS I've experienced. I had a primer question and the owner called me on a weekend to answer it instead of email me back. It's been that way with the few times I've had questions. They call after my orders and say thank you as well. Nice to see. I suppose that will get harder and harder to do the bigger they become however.

Yes when I'm not hauling freight in the big rig I'm hauling ***** on an 07 wide glide. Hoping to upgrade to a newer street Glide after income tax returns.

If hornady isn't as bad as its always been rumored to be that would be great. With all the case sorting and prep I do I try to avoid brass with a short lifespan like the plague. That said I can get about 300 1x fired hornady for the price of 100 norma of nosler and I like the way those numbers work

Nice... I ride an 09 Rocker Custom. Since they only made them for 4 years, I'll be hanging onto it. In 30-40 years it will be comparable to being as rare as the Knuckleheads are today.

The thing with the brass, you just got to try it to see if it works for you. I've used all the major brands like Lapua, Nosler, Norma, Winchester, Hornady, Lake City, Remington, Federal, etc... Some of which in multiple different calibers. My favorites are Lapua and Nosler, and some Norma for my precision rifles, Lake City for 5.56 and .300 BLK, and Hornady for my 6.5 Grendel and my revolvers. I still have some of the other brands stashed away for emergency needs.

I'm shooting Prime Ammunition in 2 AR's and 2 .260 Rem bolt guns, one Rem, one Ruger and hands down its the best factory ammo I've ever shot including a good bit of custom loaded ammo (custom ammo manufacturers).

I've flat never shot anyone's ammo that consistently would shoot half MOA or less with two very different makes and models of rifle.

Even in the AR's it's shooting MOA or better and that's one with a 15" barrel and the other with 18".

Components, workmanship, customer service, they beat everyone else's ammo I've shot hands down.

They load a Norma VLD for the .260's that has proven to really do the job on coyotes, deer, and a couple of pigs for me.

I'll put it this way, after I shot the first box (order of 4) I immediately called them up and ordered 6 more and I'm a cheap skate.

Oh, for what they are producting the prices are just dirt cheap.

I'm more interested in the quality of the brass than the quality of ammo. I was planning to just buy brass until late I saw the price of this stuff and found it may actually be the same norma brass I was thinking of buying but with a different headstamp and the bonus of it already being loaded

You can't produce extremely high quality ammo without starting with good components.

The Prime ammo is manufactured by the Ruag Group at the Norma facilities.

It is exactly the same 6.5 Creed brass with a Prime head stamp as was just released by Norma in their 6.5 Creed Sirocco hunting load with a Norma head stamp on it.

I have shot both and took probably the first US game animal with the Sirocco loads when I took my nice white tail in OK this past November. My contact at Norma got me a case of it fresh off the boat before it was even shipped to their dealers so I'd have it in time to take it to the range and the field for my hunt.
