No Hydrodynamic Shock Below 2600FPS??

A respected ballistics expert basically says that bullets .338 diameter and less loose their hydrodynamic shock value below 2600fps. This basically means a .308 Win shooting a 180g bullet and a .338 Win Mag both loose their shock value in less than 100 yards. I have harvested animals with rifles from 270 Win to 375 H&H and am still confused.
I'm about to do a black bear hunt and if i go with that theory I'd pick a 225g over a 250g bullet for my 338 Win Mag. I'd be real interested in what you guys on the forrum have to say about this. What do you all think?

I don't buy it. Witnessed and examined far too much game killed with various bullets that impacted below 2,600fps.

I would respectfully disagree seeing some of the reactions of deer hit with bullets in the 1900 fps range that were not CNS hits. That being said I really don't care what process kills the critters I shoot as long as they are dead.

Plenty of good .338 bullets in both weights. Pick one based more on the circumstances of the hunt.

The 210 Grain Nosler Partition was, a "Killer" pushed at almost, 3,000 FPS for me, back WHEN, I had, a .338 Win Mag.
Anything that, "Mushroom's" well and Penetrates deep ( breaks, Bones ) would be "Good" !
Break, One Shoulder and "Scramble",.. the Lungs,.. Dead Bear !
PS;.. Always WAIT, a Few Minutes till, AFTER,. the Death Moan, to be Safe !
The 225 gr. Hornady would be, my Second choice and would also, work Fine on, Blackie's !

Ive lost count of the amount of deer ive killed with a 20" 308 spitting out a 168amax @2590fps. As close as 10yds and as far as 400yds. Bullet choice I think has more to do with it. Ever see what a 150gr pmc starfire hollowpoint does @2200fps from a 30-30?

Try shooting a watermelon or filled closed water jug and and see if there's any hydrostatic shock. I'm betting both will "blow up"

Damage is damage.....
An Arrow doesn't cause hydrostatic or 'hydrodynamic' shock....
But it would shock and kill ya if shot with a good broadhead in the right place....
NOW...are Rambos tipped arrows hydrostatic shocking.....
