I just picked up a "brand-used" 300rum here and I'm about to start reloading for it.

Currently it has the factory length mag box-- if I can't find a load I'm happy with at max mag length then I'll look into a wyatts extended box for it.

Looks like the rem700 factory box will take 3.70" long

I have 215 hybrids here, and some 230 otms too--- have cci primers, adg new brass, h1000, retumbo. Looks like the 215 hybrids hit lands at 3.95 in my barrel and the 230otm hits lands at 3.84

Suggestions on load data that has worked well for you using adg, 215,230,h1000,retumbo?

Thanks

Remington 700 SPS. I opened the ejection port and added Wyatt's 4 inch box. Mine likes the 215 hybrid. Iirc .045 off. I'd have to look at my load data but I think 85.5 -86 grains h1000 gets me 2953. Es 12 sd5. I can get to 3075 with similar es/SD but I get a slight ejector swipe there. Usually about 5/8 moa to 500 yds. 215 primer and adg brass.

H1000---Berger data for the 215s is showing 86.5 as max, but nosler data for their 210 shows 90.0.
I'm not sure about the adg brass-- I heard it was thicker so I might start around 85 and work up?

I'm running Retumbo in mine, got good results with H1000 and RE25 as well. I dropped 230g OTM's for hunting. Went with 210g ABLR in all my 30 cals.

Cheers.

Is the berger load data always more conservative than others?

Have you found you can load hotter than burgers data before getting pressure signs?

You just have to loadem up and try it. If pockets are going soft at 3x, you probably wanna back it down.

My first RUM barrel with 215s, H1000, and ADG brass. 28" Barrel loaded at 3.6" ish for HS magazine.
83gr 2898 FPS
84gr 2957
85gr 2959
86gr 2975
87gr 2984
Never settled on a load with this.

Current RUM I am using 215s with N570 at about 3050 at about 3.830" ish. Retumbo is pretty close to N570.

With the 245 I am just below Berger's recommended max and I am 80 FPS faster or so. That is not even max, but brass life is happier here.

H1000---Berger data for the 215s is showing 86.5 as max, but nosler data for their 210 shows 90.0.

wow that's conservative. I shoot over 86.5 in a 30 nosler!!!

in 300 RUM I use the barrel burner N570 with 215's in a 28" proof and I'm at the high end at 94.2 grains 3,198' avg and es of 3! I only use this rifle for one thing only....elk just to save the throat. And it will put their dobber in the dirt from a long long way.

Get you some N570! with 215s and 91.1gr I'm getting 3100fps, single digit es/sd, and .5 moa out to 710yds consistently, and no pressure. Retumbo is my huckleberry with 200gr ABs, though. I've had no reason to even try H1000.

Im hooked-- loved it, not near as much recoil as i was expecting-- used my suppressor as well-- BUT-- my labradar wouldn't work with my portable battery today-- I got 2 shots recorded and it wouldn't turn back on 😮‍💨

At 85.5gr h1000 with 215 hybrids I clocked 2900fps

With the 215's i ran from 85.5 up to 89.5 with no pressure signs-- ill have to shorten the rounds just a bit, at 3.69" they wanted to hang up just a bit in the factory mag.
Printed a .55" group for the 88.5gr and .712" for the 89.5gr --- I'll probably try again with 1x fired brass and see how it goes.
With the 230s I ran from 85 to 88gr and again, no pressure signs - no vel numbers on the 230s though---- 85gr got me a .57" group, and 88 grains showed .71" with a pulled shot--- I'll probably try them both again with a working chrono and 1x fired brass to see how it goes.

Thanks for the guidance in the right direction.

I'm probably going to try the 182 hht also as I like to have both cup/core and mono options

Welcome to the family of RUM.
Been wanting one for a while, was kinda leaning towards a 338 or edge, but my suppressor is only 30 cal so went with the 300.
Got a good deal on a darn near brand new semi- custom build from another member and I'm already happy with it after 1 trip to the range. Looks like its gonna give my 7rm( my favorite rifle up till now) a run for its money
