My ELR just showed up. I ordered this one in a 300WIN I was afraid with how light it was if I got it in a 338 I wouldn't be able to stay in the gun and spot my own shots so I ordered a 300WIN. I will load her up tonight and test it tomorrow. I have to say the fit and finish looks much better than the last time I had one (years ago) over all feels really nice. now we shall see if it shoots.

Just kidding but get some pics when you go out tomorrow. Hehehe

Here are my pictures from last night. I tried keeping it as light as possible used my Leupold unimount and a Viper HST whole rig might be 10lbs total with the Sinclair tactical bipod.
I loaded some test loads for today:
Norma brass:
RL23 70,71,&72 grains
208 amax loaded to the lands 3.6225

If all goes well tonight I will shoot it out at 1100 tomorrow morning. If that goes well too I will be ordering a 338 on Monday.

Ok loaded to the lands they still fit in the mag box! I single shot all my guns but still nice option.
My Norma virgin brass was 11 thousands short of head space. So I have high hopes for it after it's fireformed. It shot 3/8ths up too 7/8ths in my test groups so I think it will be a shooter. Recoil was very light not bad at all.
I am going to test more tomorrow out long want to see if I can stay in the gun to spot my shots. And to see if the fired brass improves the groups
70 grains shot the best @ 2870 with an ES of 7.
Barrel cleaned up during break in very very well. Over all very impressed with the rifle overall so far.

Ok it shot well. Nice triangle 3 shot group at 1055 measured just under 9" obviously not awesome or anything but for a rifle that has limited load development and only 34 rounds on it. I really just wanted to see the potential and I'm very pleased. I was able to spot all my shots as well.
Cleaned it again. Looked in the bore scope. I must say it looks better than any factory gun I have but not as nice as my high end barrels. It isn't fouling and still cleans up nicely. After I get the last 16 pieces fireformed I will go back to do some better development.

You'll probably see an increase in velocity once you get about 80-100 rounds through it. My Ridgeline 300 Win Mag sped up almost 100fps. It's shooting 215 hybrids at 2949 with H1000. I'm about 2 grains of powder below even light pressure signs. I bet you'll be mid to high 2900's once you get a few more rounds though it.

I didn't get to order the 338 and I might have to sale this one. oh you gotta love kids and college and the never ending need for money LOL. Either way I am gonna play with it til then at least.
