Matrix Bullets in US....

Best down range accuracy found for my PRC was from the 160gr Matrix at 2950. Phenomenal accuracy from a 1:7.5 twist barrel. They struggled a bit with 1:8 but 7.5 was very impressive. Will save them for elk the hunts. I even found the G1 to be a little underrated. Hope he finds a way to send them over here. Maybe a US distributor.

Nuts! I was about to place an order for some of the heavy 270s for my 27 Boondoggle as well as another 300 of the 160gr 6.5's for the 6.5 Badger. The 160gr Matrix is the only bullet I shoot in the 6.5 Badger!

It's frustrating that this is happening but it does open up an opportunity for a US based entrepreneur to fill the future void. If Matrix bullets can't continue on without the revenue coming in from US customers, that would lead me to believe that there's a viable market for comparable bullets here in the states. Maybe somebody should offer to buy the equipment and rights to the bullets and carry on the brand.

Good to know. Me too!

I got lucky and purchased a few hundred 175s from an LRH member for the life of my barrel.

I too was going to use the 160s on my .264 WM build with 27" 5R 1:7".

Small and large Canadian businesses need the U.S. market. Our country is large, but our population is small. The States has 10 times the population of Canada. We are at about 32 million people total. You also have IMHO a higher percentage of people in shooting sports.

There's an old saying about what happens to little animals when elephants fight. Thing is, both of our countries claim to be a democracy, with "the people" in charge. This is a good, grassroots example of how much socialists and apparatchiks really care about the Constitution.

Good opportunity to start buying American made products.

Do you know an American manufacturer who makes comparable bullets?

I'm just kicking myself for not buying Matrix when it was for sale a few years ago. When it sold it was a good business at a good price, just at the wrong time.

Hammer...Cutting Edge...Berger... Badlands...etc...plenty of American companies are making good bullets that we shouldn't have to rely on other countries.

Those aren't comparable bullets though, these are all monometal designs except for Berger. Who else makes heavy, high BC lead core bullets for the 6.5 and 270? A 160gr 6.5mm and 170gr 270 solid copper bullet requires highly specialized twists to function. A lead core bullet with a similar weight and BC will require a more conventional rifling twist.

It's not as if I can walk into a store and pickup a box of the 155gr Berger's in 6.5 mm that's been "on the way" for a few years now. The 150 SMK is out there and available but the heavier bullets are a better option in really overbore chamberings. The same goes for the heavy for caliber lead core 270 bullets. Add to that the cost difference between solid copper and lead core bullets and it's really not an equal comparison.

That's a very specific set of parameters.

But Berger makes a high BC lead core .270 bullet.

As far as 6.5, I'm not sure but maybe there's a reason for it...IE, no market for them.

Berger makes a .277- 170gr EOL. Need to get Sierra and Hornady to step up to 165gr-175gr for the .277 cal.

I have some of those, but I also have the case capacity and twist to shoot 170+gr bullets. More options are always good.

Exactly, there's not enough of a market for the relatively specialized heavy for caliber lead core bullets which is why there isn't a US based alternative. Right now we have Chinchaga and Matrix who are making "boutique" bullets which aren't available from anyone else. There isn't a huge market, but it's there.

There is a definite market for a jacketed 6.5mm 150/156/160 hunting bullet. And very, VERY little support to fill that niche. Berger has been working to get their 156 released, but Matrix has had them out for a long time.
