Load Development Ruger Precision Rifle .243

If you haven't tried these combos yet, that's what I would do.
IMR 7828, IMR 4064, H4350.

7828 could have easily been a choice for my gun, it was almost identical to the H4831sc

I've tried 4831, 7828, Hybrid 100v (which is very close to 4350) and H1000 so far. H1000 is the second best. Couldn't get anything going with 7828 or the Hybrid 100v.

Take your best powder and do some primer testing, then take that load and do some lands testing. DONE ! :)

:) That's the theory. I'll probably stick with the CCI 200 mainly because I have so many of them and primer varieties are not easy to come by around here. I do have some federal mag primers that I could try though.

Ok.
Just food for thought

During testing when we settled on my final powder and primer, I tested lots of combos
The same powder charge with a different primer produced these groups.
250 1.26 moa
215 .493 moa
Br2 1.3
215m. 1.2
210m. Final avg group size .27 moa

So. I think Len here at LRH charges 4-6k for his guns and guarantees 1/2 moa 3 shot

Your trying to get 1/2 moa to 1/4 moa. With a factory gun and only sticking to one primer and don't want to go through all the extra steps with your reloading.

If your going to spend the time and develop and load. If your going to spend hours of your free time, cost of everything included, then you might as well take those extra steps.

I get primers aren't real available and all that jazz. You seem to care and really want this gun to shoot. The only other option is you might need to lower your standards with group size and expectations.

I saw that with the 210M primers. I'll see if I can get my hands on some. Thanks for doing all the work and reporting so well. It really helped me out. I was going to skip the 4831 and the 7828 until I saw what you guys found.

I reloaded 100 rounds and zeroed at 300 yards. 4 rounds .97 inch. 5 at 1.74
Everything is still shooting well, little adjustment on the scope and I should be good to go

I shot in a local steel fun shoot for score
This was my first time shooting in something like this. 5 teams total

There were some 300 win mags, 6.5 creedmor. .308 win . My .243 RPR. There was even a defiance action and manners stock setup. Which was my partner for the shoot. These guys have been shooting here for years
We had 16 targets.
888,624,660,895,500,843,654,585,828,
470,275,643,773,570,506,807

Most of the longer shots were angles up 5-8 degree. Wind was swirling most of the day. 3-8 mph.

Some of my highlights were head shots on man size targets at 773,843 also a small orange disk at 828 yards my guess of 6-8" around, small orange disk.

I hit 12 out of 16 targets first shot hits.
I had 25 first and second round hits

So my first time shooting here, I did pretty well. My partner and I had the highest score, it's for fun though ;) It appeared I had the highest score I beat my partner by about 400 points
Scoring was done first shot was 100 points and the second shot was 100 points if you didn't hit on 1 and 2. You could shoot three more on a sliding point scale. 100,80,60,40,20

So even though there were guns much more expensive then the RPR, I am starting to lean towards a couple of the most important issues. Ammo consistency and some shooting knowledge.

That is some good shooting

I did a quick not really scientific test today with my .223 62 gr federal standard duty

I used the magnetto sporter and shot two different positions

One position with the gun held at my hip and let it free recoil that produced more erratic and higher extreme spreads and velocity

2807
2852
2860
2894
Avg. 2853 fps ES 87

The other position was prone locked in to my shoulder with some force held to the rear

2798
2811
2815
2832

Avg. 2814 fps. ES 34

I would have to bet that kneeling or standing would produce different results also
