lightest barrel fluting pattern

Has anyone checked fluting patterns to see which ones are the lightest?

A few that come to the top of my list are:
- Spiral wrought iron milled cuts
- Diamond cuts
- Remington TI wide large radius flutes


Also, any recommendations on how much surface to leave between flutes? Seems it could be very small as i doubt it would ever "wear" down enough to cause issues.

Do you mean the cuts that remove the most weight?

I was told the wrought iron wouldn't remove as much material as deeper cut spirals especially toward the radius where they can cut deeper. Wrought still looks BA though

Haven't seen a barrel cut wrought iron....had three bolts done though....really like the looks of the bolts.......
Hmmm....wonder if they could wrought iron my proof carbon....its kinda heavy.....

I believe it will be the LRI pattern X.

Lri is very helpful too if you call them. I just got a barrel back from them and I can say their work is top notch. Their pattern X is probably for you if you want lots of weight reduction. Mine was a 29" brux .30cal Rem varmint contour and the spiral fluting removed 8-10 ounces.
