I will be getting my rifle(7mm WSM) back from my gunsmith around February or March.So I will be load developing in 30-40 degree temps.If I use one of these "Extreme Powders",will I still need to adjust the load come summer time?I would like to hear from some guy's who have alot of experience with these powders,to see what kind of performance they get from them,as far as stability is concerned.

With the 300WSM H4831SC is hard to beat don't overload and run max pressures and you should be fine. For 200gr + projectile weight H1000 is awsome. I recommend the CCI250 primers for that case volume they seem to be the most consistant in thee short and standard mags.

I load on the extreme end of high. There must be a temperature sensitivity as when the temp is below 60 degrees there is no problem. Much above 60 degees F I use an ice bath for the cartridges. Other wise case live goes way down.
There is a velocity difference but not nearly as much as say RL-22. I don't compensate for any velocity change and my hit rate is pretty good. That is to say, I don't worry, well too much, about temperature sensitivity with the H powders or even the IMR powders that I use.
It's fun waiting for that rifle to come back isn't it.

KQguy, what powder & bullets are you planning to try? What is your barrel length? I have a 7mm wsm also, rebuilt model 70 with 26" super match SS pacnor. I finished break in, now trying loads the 150 ballistic tips & H4831sc. I may shoot 64, 64.2, 64.4 and 64.6 again, or play with the seating depth on the 64.5gr loads for fine tuning, or just go with this. At 65 and 65.5 I found light brass flow around the firing pin indent. I also have some 140 accubonds some 150 e-tips and a box of 160accubonds as well. Debating on a purchase of 168 gr berger vld's.

You are going to get alot of different answers and opinions on this topic. The reason for that is that it has more to do with it than just the temp sensitivity of a given powder. It can also depend on how compressed a load is, how much empty space is in a load, if the load is at max, under max or close to max, the burn rate and several of these issues combined in different configurations may cause different results in different temperatures. It is very hard to say. I will say this, H powders (extreeme) typically have the least amount of swing than other types for a GIVEN set of circumstances. That doesnt meen that if you are getting .5 FPS per temperature rise or fall that the next guy will with the same powder.

I am having a 27''Benchmark barrell installed.I will first try out the 162gr Amax bullets first,that's what I hope works the best,if not I will probably move on to the burgers.As far as powder goes,I will start with Retumbo,then try H1000,if those don't work,I will then try some 4831SC.I already have all those powders on hand,so I will give them all a try.

While you're messing with powders for the heavier bullets I wouldn't leave 7828ssc (super short cut) out of the mix......

As to the Extreme powders: in the temp range 0 to 50 degrees there does not seam
to be much spread in velocity ( 5 to 10 ft/sec ) but from 50 to a 100 the spread is more
( 15 to 20 ft/sec ).
High temps seam to have the most effect on all powders.
I normaly load around 70 degrees and hunt from 30 to 60 deg. but when temps reach 100+
some of my non extreme powder loads become to hot.
I try to use nothing but Extreme powders but some rifles like something else so that's what
they get.
