Troublemaker!Don't over look the 150gr SBD2, it kicks the 170gr bergers butt.

For a LA, 27 Nosler with a 7 twist. shoot a 150 SBD2 @ 3200 fps. George from Badlands Precision said 3200 was a very doable speed. Those numbers are making me consider selling my current build.I've always wanted to add a .277 build to the line up. I know they aren't as popular as a 6.5, 7, and 30's but I have pretty much everything already covered. This is more because I want one!
Anyways I'm not one for huge speed demon so I'm thinking maybe the 270/6.5 prc for the purpose of Lapua brass or holding off until more brass options come out in the 7 prc and necking it down. Hoping to run the 170's, and build a real lightweight multipurpose hunting rifle from whitetail to moose. Just because I know it's coming, I already have a 300 Norma, 7 mag so the moose part is generally covered
Specs can change but thoughts are;
- falkor lw7 long action
- carbon barrel (hoping ibi drops there's soon)
- manners lrh
- Hawkins bottom metal
- tt diamond
I'm running my 27 Sherman mag at over 3500 with H1000.For a LA, 27 Nosler with a 7 twist. shoot a 150 SBD2 @ 3200 fps. George from Badlands Precision said 3200 was a very doable speed. Those numbers are making me consider selling my current build.
I love my 270 wsm though. But it's a SA and won't fit or spin a 170 gr EH. But it's awesome with a 130 gr.
But check out a 27 Nosler @ 3196 fps with a 150 SBD2. And that's only 3402 #'s of muzzle energy. Only 16 #'s more muzzle energy then my 7mag with a 180 vld-h starting at 2912 fps. The 27 Nosler still has plenty of energy at 1000 yards.
Man by the time you done load development you need a new barrel.I'm running my 27 Sherman mag at over 3500 with H1000.
It's with the 150gr SBD2. And that's backing down after finding pressure. It pressured out over 3600. I have another good load I found with the 160gr T-Rex also. It slowed it down to in the 3200 mark.Man by the time you done load development you need a new barrel.
That's impressive though. 3500 fps with what weight bullet?
Sorry I guess it was 3460fps.It's with the 150gr SBD2. And that's backing down after finding pressure. It pressured out over 3600. I have another good load I found with the 160gr T-Rex also. It slowed it down to in the 3200 mark.
Howdy, I have been thinking about a 270/7Prc . Brass will be available soon for the 7prc , I got a notice yesterday that Adg will be available in the next 2 weeks, Peterson around the end of August.so 6.5 prc ackley basically, necked up too 7mm then?
I am strongly considering a 6.5prc or improved necked to .277 due to the Lapua brass. I figured it would probably have the 170's at 2950-3050 was my assumption.
The only reason the 7prc necked down is in mind is the hopes better brass(Lapua fingers crossed) would give me the 3000-3050fps mark plus possibly better feeding be a true long action caliber. The brass is what's holding me back
What's the coal with a 150 sbd2? I have a factory 700 7mag waiting to be something new. Wondering if the 7 Sherman mag would fit.Sorry I guess it was 3460fps.View attachment 481767
