So I've been looking for a hand press or some sort of portable press to use while out shooting so I can continue load work-up at the range. The only one I've seen is the Lee hand press but it's been sold out for months!

Well, while searching around the internet a couple weeks ago I stumbled upon a press I had never seen before. It's made by Buchanan Precision Machine. I used the search function on this site and didn't couldn't find anything that mentioned it. It is a lot pricier than the Lee hand press, but without that being an option I decided to pull the trigger and purchase it.

First off, customer service was awesome! You can order a carrying case with the press as a bundle for cheaper, but it said sold out on their website. So I had to buy them separately, paying double shipping. After placing the order I immediately received an email from the wife of the family owned company apologizing for not having the website up to date. She asked if I wanted to cancel the order, then place it again because she just updated the website. I said yes. She then emailed back stating the order was cnx and I can order it as a bundle saving $10 off the price and $18 off shipping. Then she asked if I was military, I responded yes. I then received another email with a discount code! Overall after ordering it again I save around $50! Mind you this all took place between 2200-2230 on a Thursday night.

I received the press a couple days later and am very impressed with the size, build, and functionality. Very solid build and does not take up too much space. With the primer catcher installed it has a max of 3.22" and with it removed it has a max of 3.87". So, it will work for any SA and standard LA cartridges.

I've only reloaded 40 S&W with it but it worked flawlessly. Super easy to size, flare, and seat the bullets. I've FL sized a couple rifle brass so far and as long as it's lubed it was pretty easy. When I reload some rifle rounds with it I will update this post.

Almost forgot! Best part about this press is I can reload in the living room now! So now when my wife is watching something stupid on TV I can still spend time with her, but be doing something productive as well!🤣🤣

Interesting design. I started out with a Lee hand press, over 30 years ago. Still have it, and it still works if needed. This design is obviously way more robust.
